The Firenze side could have had a better first part of the season in Serie A, but it is obvious that the management wasn’t satisfied with being tenth and winning only five games. They did win three out of their last four matches which showed some improvement, but the fact that this will be their seventh friendly game in only three weeks of training shows how seriously they are taking the fact that this club has ambition. If we look at the stats of their first 15 games in the league, we can see that their goalscoring record could be a lot better, especially with their forwards being out of sync. Luka Jovic, out of their center forwards is the only one who scored at least three goals, and he is joined by Giacomo Bonaventura who is a central midfield player. Jovic rejoined the team after the World Cup and already played against Monaco with limited minutes.
Lugano
The Swiss team showed great character throughout the first part of their league season, they are currently an excellent fourth in the rankings holding onto a position that would take them to European competition next season. However, this is going to be very hard to achieve if they don’t keep winning because the first team behind them in the rankings is Basel who had a terrible first 16 games of the season. Lugano is one of the best offensive teams in the league, but the irony is, they are also one of the worst defensively. Their goal difference speaks the truth, it’s level at 26. Lugano found a real gem in the 23-year-old Slovenian striker Zan Celar who they brought on in the summer of 2021 from AS Roma after impressing them while on loan. He is their best scorer by far this season with eight goals, and nobody else scored more than two. But, there are a lot of players who are at that number.
