Torino to win
After a solid enough campaign last season which saw them finish in 10th position, there is a really good feeling around Torino which has only been amplified by some shrewd business over the summer. Their home form was good last season and considering they are facing an opponent who needed the playoffs to get back into Serie A, Torino should have too much quality for their opponents.
Over 2.5 goals
Torino were one of the most pragmatic sides in Serie A last season and only managed to score a total of 42 goals. This summer, they have brought in Nikola Vlasic and Nemanja Radonjic and both of them should make them far more of a threat in the attacking third. Cagliari managed 50 goals in Serie B last season and therefore carry a goal threat themselves.
Second half most goals
The majority of Torino’s games followed a similar pattern last season. They would keep things as tight as possible during the first half before opening up more in the second. Looking at their final five games of last season, ten goals were scored and out of those ten, seven were scored after halftime. They are very much a second-half team and given they are at home on Monday night, they are more than likely going to be able to dictate how the game goes.
Torino vs Cagliari: Preview and team information
Torino
Torino started their competitive season last week when faced FeralpiSalo in the Coppa Italia. The Bulls ran out as 2-1 winners but were given a scare by their lower-league opponents. That shouldn’t concern Torino fans too much, though, and good things are expected of them once again thanks to the additions of Ivan Ilic and Nikola Vlasic over the summer.
Cagliari
Cagliari also started their season last week and like Torino, they also progressed through to the next round of the Coppa Italia thanks to an extra-time win over Palermo. They come into this season in high spirits after their Serie B playoff triumph and with Claudio Ranieri at the helm, anything is possible.
Torino vs Cagliari head-to-head record and form
Torino and Cagliari have faced each other on 40 occasions over the years. Out of those 40 games, Torino have won 15, Cagliari have won 12 and there have been a further 13 draws.
