Genk to win
Out of these two clubs, Genk have far more pedigree as a club and ability as a team. They play against tougher opponents each week and are therefore more prepared for the trials and tribulations of European football. The Belgian outfit are unbeaten in their last eleven matches in all competitions and will fancy the job here against their weaker opponents.
Over 2.5 goals
Both of these teams like to get amongst the goals so this should be an exciting match with plenty of action at both ends. Genk have scored 15 goals in their last seven games so they are averaging more than two goals a game recently on their own. Cukaricki, meanwhile, have scored eight goals in their last four games after a slow start to the season so are also feeling confident in front of goal.
Genk to score first
This season, Genk have made a habit of scoring early before retreating into their shells. It has cost them some wins but nevertheless, they are usually a good bet to score first. Cukaricki, on the other hand, have conceded the first goal in five of their last eight matches across all competitions. They prefer to grow into a match and we expect a similar pattern to follow here.
Cukaricki
Being in Belgrade, Cukaricki have had to spend much of their existence in the shadows of Partixan and Red Star. Despite that, they have started to make moves in Serbia in recent years and have three consecutive third-place finishes. This is the first time they have ever made it to the group stages of a European competition so there is a real feel-good factor around the club.
Genk
Genk have a lot more experience in European competition than their opponents and have enjoyed some good runs in recent years. Most notably, they made it all the way to the quarter-finals of the Europa League six years ago and will be hopeful of a similar run this year after a promising start to the season.
As this is the first time that Cukaricki have made it into Europe, they have never faced Genk or any other Belgian side before. Whoever gets the win here, will have bragging rights until they meet again later on in the group stage.
