Etcheverry made a huge step last season and has found his way to the top tournaments. Currently, the Argentinian is ranked at no. 49, with his career-best being at no. 46. Etcheverry has 23 wins and 14 losses this season including a 19-10 record on clay. In the opening round, Etcheverry went past Jack Draper who retired in the second set. Etcheverry made it to three finals this season losing all three of them, against Nicolas Jarry in Santiago, Frances Tiafoe in Houston, and Ugo Humbert in Bordeaux. This is the first time for him to make it past the opening round of the tournament.
Alex de Minaur
De Minaur is currently ranked at no. 19, four spots lower than his career best. The Australian is 17-11 for the season and 4-4 on clay. In the opening round of the French Open, de Minaur defeated Ilya Ivashka by 6-1, 5-7, 6-1, 6-3. The 24-year-old won the tournament in Acapulco earlier this year defeating Tommy Paul in the finals. This is the third time in his career to reach the second round in Roland Garros hoping to finally make one step further.
