Carlos Alcaraz vs Lorenzo Musetti – Match Predictions

Lorenzo Musetti to Win a Set: Yes

Despite coming into this match as the outsider we back Lorenzo Musetti to win at least 1 set. Musetti won all of his first 3 matches so far in straight sets. He allowed the 14th seed Norrie just 7 games combined in round 3. Also, Musetti won the only previous H2H just last year, so he clearly doesn’t fear Alcaraz.

At the same time, the world number 1 is yet to find his stride properly despite an easy round 3 win. He dropped a set in round 2 against the unseeded Daniel and in round 1 had problems closing the match against the qualifier Coboli. Due to all that we think Musetti will have more than enough to win at least 1 set in this matchup.

Over 33.5 Total Games

Both players have been decisive in their wins so far. However, if we think neither will be able to win in straight sets we also believe that the game will go over 33.5 total games. The only previous meeting between the two, again on clay, saw all 3 sets being very competitive and close – 6-4, 6-7, 6-4 for Musetti.

With both players very solid on clay and capable to extend rallies we believe this will be a long battle that will naturally go over 33.5 games.

Carlos Alcaraz vs Lorenzo Musetti Preview

Our predictions for this match have now been established, let’s see how these players have fared so far in the French Open.

Carlos Alcaraz

The world number 1 Alcaraz began his charge in Paris with a 6-0, 6-2, 7-5 win vs the Italian qualifier Coboli in round 1. Alcaraz showed a lack of focus in the 3rd set when he had to come from behind before eventually closing the match.

In round 2 Alcaraz again showed lapses of concentration as he dropped the 2nd set vs Daniel before eventually running away with a 3-1 win.

Alcaraz’s best display so far was in round 3 when he beat the 26th seed Shapovalov 6-1, 6-4, 6-2.

Lorenzo Musetti

Musetti has been hugely impressive in his first 3 games and he is yet to drop a set. The toughest game for the Italian was in round 1 vs Ymer when he dropped 11 games in the 3 sets he won. However, in his most recent 2 matches, he dropped 11 games combined in 6 sets played.

Musetti trashed the dangerous Russian Shevchenko 6-1, 6-1, 6-2 before making an easy job of the 14th seed Brit Norrie in round 3 with a 6-1, 6-2, 6-4 victory.

Alcaraz vs Musetti Head to Head

Musetti won the only previous meeting between the two in a dramatic style. The Italian edged Alcaraz 6-4, 6-7, 6-4 during the 2022 Hamburg Open, which was again played on outdoor clay.
