Chinese tennis star, Yibing Wu, triumphed in the ATP Dallas but could only get to 1/32 finals of the Indian Wells. The 23-year-old will have to overcome the looming presence of Kyle Edmund if he is to better his showings in the Sunset Masters.

Wu lost in the Cleveland Challenger finals and then followed it up with glory in the ATP Dallas. He has the marker on his back and will want to give a better account of his abilities after a soft defeat to Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. With Edmund making his return after the Australian Open and likely to ease himself back into action after an injury scare, Wu should progress at his expense. It should be one-way traffic, one in which the Chinese ace claims both sets.

He did falter early in the Indian Wells and will back himself to go deep as the turn of Sunset Masters comes to a close.

Kyle Edmund

Once hailed as the next British hope, Kyle Edmund has been marred by injuries. The 28-year-old has failed to fulfil his potential as Andy Murray has done and Cameron Norrie is doing. He has lost all five of his matches since August 2022 and his last victory in the ATP Winston-Salem over Michail Pervolarakis seems a distant memory. He still has time on his side and needs to ease back into competition. With the greater chunk of the 2023 campaign ahead of him, minutes on the court is all that he will want.
