Taylor Fritz vs Stefanos Tsitsipas prediction and odds: Australian Open 2024

Taylor Fritz vs Stefanos Tsitsipas prediction and odds: Australian Open 2024

All of our tennis predictions today are starting to get very interesting at this stage in the tournament. Finally, top seeds like Fritz and Tsitsipas are set to do battle, and this is when the event shifts into a higher gear. As for my predictions for this game, they are all discussed within.

Our favourite Taylor Fritz vs Stefanos Tsitsipas predictions

If you look back at the 2023 Australian Open, Fritz went out in the second round while Tsitsipas lost in the final. Therefore, Fritz has already improved on last year, while Tsitsipas is still chasing a run to the finals to defend his points. This will be the fifth time that these guys meet, too, so who will be the victor, and what should you wager on?

Fritz over 20.5 games @ 3/4 (1.75)

I must admit, I wasn’t overly confident in Fritz’s chances for the 2024 Australian Open before the tournament started. He performed poorly last year, and he only won his first-round match in five sets this year. However, he played well against Marozsan in the previous round, and he clearly has a dangerous game.

So for me, he could grab a set or two against Tsitsipas, which makes me think this market is appropriate.

5 total sets @ 2/1 (3.00)

I have no doubts that this will be a hard-fought contest, and I expect that each set will be quite close. Yet based on the appealing odds for the match to go 5 sets in favour of either player, I feel this is a solid wager to make. At the same time, these two went the distance at the Australian Open in 2022.

Taylor Fritz vs Stefanos Tsitsipas odds

The probability of Fritz beating Tsitsipas is 47.60%, making him the underdog. As for the chance of a Tsitsipas victory, this is 58.80%.

Fritz vs Tsitsipas – who will bring their A-game to reach the quarters in Melbourne?

The Australian Open schedule is packed with intriguing contests tonight, and this one ranks right up there as a key match. So before it all begins, let’s look at a quick preview for each player:

Taylor Fritz preview

As the 12th seed this year, this is the round at which Fritz is supposed to lose (on paper). And following his five-set first-round match, I doubted whether he’d make it this far. However, the American has since turned his form around to score two decent wins in rounds two and three, which should give him confidence coming into this one.

Stefanos Tsitsipas preview

For some reason, Tsitsipas always brings his best tennis in Melbourne. He is the 7th seed this year too, so he is tipped to make it past Fritz based on the seedings. With that said, the last time he faced Fritz he lost quite convincingly, and this was on clay – a surface that Tsitsipas loves.

Fritz vs Tsitsipas head to head

The current head-to-head records for Fritz vs Tsitsipas sit at 3-1 in favour of the Greek. Interestingly, two of those three wins have been in Australia too. But as mentioned above, Fritz dismantled Tsitsipas in their most recent meeting in Monte Carlo last season.
