Taylor Fritz has enjoyed a roller-coaster 12 months. After lifting his first ATP 1000 event last year at Indian Wells, many expected the American to kick on and become a serious threat at major championships. While he has failed to do that, he has still enjoyed moderate success elsewhere and has retained his place in the world’s top ten as a result.
His form this year has also been up and down. After being knocked out of round two at the Australian Open he bounced back to win the Delray Beach Open a month later. He will be hopeful of a deep run here in Miami as the hard court season comes towards an end.
Denis Shapovalov
Big things were expected of Denis Shapovalov when he burst onto the scene as a teenager but things haven’t quite materialised as planned so far for the Canadian. However, he is still just 23 so time is on his side to reach his potential. He only has one career title to his name and seems to save his best performances for grand slams, where he’s enjoyed far more success than Fritz.
This year, hasn’t made it past the third round of any tournament and will be desperate to change that on Sunday.
