2023 Miami Open Schedule and Order of Play – Updated Daily

Wednesday’s 2023 Miami Open action promises to be top drawer with Women’s and Men’s Singles Quarter Finals all taking place on the Stadium Court. Along with the four quarter finals in the singles draws, we also have five doubles fixtures to look forward to. We may not have the quantity of matches that we had earlier in the tournament but the quality will be unrivalled!

The tennis begins at the later time of 18:00 GMT so don’t get all settled too early! However, your evening entertainment is perfectly sorted and you can read how you can watch all the action in our  2023 Miami Open TV and streaming article here.

Okay, so let’s climb into the schedule as we pick out the biggest games and give you that much needed context into the order of play.

First on Stadium Court is the 2023 Miami Women’s Quarter Final with Sorana Cirstea of Romania taking on the second seed Aryna Sabalenka. The un-seeded Cirstea has progressed through all four rounds so far without dropping a set. She has plenty of momentum behind her after knocking out the French fifth seed, Caroline Garcia, in the second round and two Czechia players – Karolina Muchova in the third and Marketa Simkova in the fourth round. The winner of the Sorana Cirstea vs Aryna Sabalenka tie will take on either Ekaterina Alexandrova or Petra Kvitova for a place in Saturday’s final.

After the women’s match above, it is straight into the 2023 Miami Men’s Open Quarter Final with the un-seeded Emil Ruusuvuori of Finland going head to head with the impressive Italian 10th seed Jannik Sinner. Ruusuvuori dropped his first set of the tournament in the fourth round but has seen the draw open up for him over the course of the week. He is yet to take on a player with a seeding higher than 22 in the competition and has lost each of his last five meetings with Sinner. However, Ruusuvuori will be looking to re-ignite the glory days of January 2020 when he emerged as the winner over Sinner in their first clash. Here at Pundit Feed, we are expecting this game to be quite the contest and you can read the Emil Ruusuvuori vs Jannik Sinner preview here with the victor taking on either Carlos Alcaraz or Taylor Fritz.

It’s quarter final action all the way on the Stadium Court with Ekaterina Alexandrova and Petra Kvitova due to take to the surface at midnight GMT. Both players have already exceeded what was expected of them with their pre-tournament seedings of 18 and 15 respectively. This is only the second game between the players with either Sorana Cirstea or Aryna Sabalenka due to be blocking the victor’s route to the final. We highly recommend reading our preview of Ekaterina Alexandrova and Petra Kvitova, and we know that real tennis fans will be happy to have a late night watching this clash.

Later into the night and the final game on the Stadium Court is arguably the biggest and best clash of the day! The top seed in the men’s draw, the 2023 Indian Wells Open Champion, Carlos Alcaraz, takes on the 2022 Indian Wells Open Champion, the ninth seed here in Miami, Taylor Fritz. In spite of the strong records they both have in Indian Wells, this will be the first time these players have faced-off on court. It may well not get underway until 01:30 GMT at the earliest, but this match could well provide an insight into who will dominate the men’s game over the coming years. Neither Alcaraz or Fritz have dropped a set in the second, third or fourth rounds and both players will come into this game full of confidence. Alcaraz has lost only 16 games with Fritz dropping 20 games. Strap yourselves in for a cracker and have a read of our Carlos Alcaraz vs Taylor Fritz preview.
