Richard Gasquet vs Stefanos Tsitsipas Predictions and Odds: Miami Open

We have an all-European affair to look forward to on Saturday with France’s Richard Gasquet taking on the Greek second seed, Stefanos Tsitsipas. Ahead of this game, you can read about all of Friday’s action in Miami here.

These odds from Ladbrokes were correct at the time of writing.

Richard Gasquet vs Stefanos Tsitsipas Match Predictions

This second round clash sees the pair go head to head with the prize of a third round contest against either the 27th seed Sebastian Baez or the Qualifier Cristian Garin up for grabs. Richard Gasquet has already come through a three-setter in the first round whereas, due to being a seed, Tsitsipas is playing in his first game of the tournament in this match.

Tsitsipas to Win in Straight Sets

Richard Gasquet is a quality all-round player but we think he will come up against someone who is better than him in every department in this match. Ranked third in the world, Tsitspias will be eager to show that last week’s early exit in Indian Wells was purely due to a shoulder problem which is now resolved. We would be very surprised if Gasquet manages to win a set.

Under 20.5 Games

Although he is 12 years younger than his opponent, Tsitsipas has already earnt $4 million dollars more across his career! No one expects Gasquet to roll over and die in this match, but we do not expect to see him force a tie-break in either set. We predict that Tsitsipas will win both sets with six games to himself and under 20.5 games across the entire fixture.

Richard Gasquet vs Stefanos Tsitsipas Preview

Here are some useful additional details on the highs, lows and recent form of both players.

Richard Gasquet

The 35 year old Frenchman is in 28th place on the all time earnings list in men’s tennis with over $20 million over his career. However, you have to go back to July 2007 for his highest career ranking of number seven. He has never gone beyond the semi-final of any Grand Slam but his last appearance at that stage was back in 2015.

Stefanos Tsitsipas

Apart from his injured appearance in Indian Wells, it has been a very impressive start to 2023 for Tsitsipas with him reaching the final at the Australian Open. The 24 year old has finished as the runner-up in two Grand Slams and also reached a further four semi-finals in France and Melbourne.

Richard Gasquet vs Stefanos Tsitsipas Head to Head

With the head to head score at 1-1, Richard Gasquet and Stefanos Tsitsipas go against each other for the third time in this game. Both of their previous games were in 2018 with straight sets victories for Tsitsipas in Qatar and the same for Gasquet in the Netherlands.
