Despite Halys’ heroics in Philadelphia and Miami, it is difficult to look past Medvedev in this duel. The Russian has been laying waste to all and sundry and the Frenchman will be left wounded in his wake. Medvedev only required 15 games to get past Roberto Carballes Baena and after his walkover over Alex Molcan, will be well-rested to complete the match swiftly.
2-0 to Daniil Medvedev
Medvedev eased past Baena without breaking a sweat. He was only forced to save a break point once and converted each of the four that came his way. Halys was scrappy in his win over McDonald, allowing six breakpoints while only converting two of the nine. Medvedev will not be as wasteful and will pounce on any weakness. Based on this, we are backing a straight sets victory for the 27-year-old.

Jan-Lennard Struff knocked out Quentin Halys at the first hurdle of Indian Wells. The Frenchman regrouped and gave a good account of his abilities in the Philadelphia Open, making it to the semi-finals where he came up short against 101-ranked Alexander Shevchenko. He has impressed in Miami and will have to play out of his skin to get past Daniil Medvedev.
Daniil Medvedev
The Russian has moved down the rankings to fifth but remains a force to reckon with. In California, he made it to the finals where Carlos Alcaraz proved to be too difficult an obstacle. That was his four successive final and the only one in which he failed after success in Rotterdam, Doha and Dubai. He will have his eyes set on the grand prize and will be looking past Halys in this meeting.
