Andrey Rublev To Win
Cameron Norrie ended Rubelev’s Indian Wells adventures while it was Carlos Alcaraz who sent Sinner back to the drawing board. The Russian failed to save any of the breakpoints in that game and only converted two of his own. Alcaraz did not give Sinner a lot of chances but he did convert one of the two breakpoints while saving four of the six he gave himself. It has been Rubelev who has made the more improvements and did not even once was threatened by Miomir Kecmanovic but did break his rival four times. On the other hand, a limping Grigor Dimitrov broke Sinner twice in the last round. Based on this, we are backing Rublev to get over the line at Sinner’s expense.
2-0 to Andrey Rublev
It will be interesting as the duo meet on the hard court for the second time and will home to finish the game this time around. Both Rublev and Sinner can make it difficult for each other. They have been in fine form recently, getting results in the process. In only their fifth meeting, two of which were not completed, we expect the duel to be concluded in straight sets. While Sinner made mistakes against Dimitrov, Rublev was on song and easily tamed Kecmanovic and was never in danger.
Jannik Sinner vs Andrey Rublev Preview
Our predictions for this match have now been established, let’s see how these players have fared so far in this tournament.
Jannik Sinner
The 21-year-old Italian made little work of Grigor Dimitrov and Laslo Djere. He earned passage to the next round with straight sets victories. While none of these sets required a tiebreaker to decide the winner, it has not been as smooth sailing as Sinner would have wanted. He has seen his service broken twice by both Dimitrov and Djere. Sinner will have to be at his best to give a better account of his abilities and match his Indian Wells heroics in Miami.
Andrey Rublev
Rublev will be hard on himself after coming up short against silverware winners in their journey. He lost out to Novak Djokovic in Australian Open. Daniil Medvedev made little work of him in Dubai. Apart from competition winners, he has faced resilience from young guns, Jiri Lehecka in Doha and Cameron Norrie in Indian Wells. Not to make it three times, Rublev dispatched Kecmanovic in straight sets, never coming in danger of dropping a game.
