Iga Swiatek vs Maria Camila Osorio Serrano Predictions and Odds: Australian Open

Maria Camila Osorio Serrano has a monumental task on her hand in the Australian Open second round as she takes on World number one, Iga Swiatek for a place in round three. With Swiatek heavy favourite, we’ve found a couple of cracking tips that may interest you if you’re looking to bet on the match.

These odds from Ladbrokes were correct at the time of writing.

Iga Swiatek vs Maria Camila Osorio Serrano Match Predictions

You would have to say it would be one of the biggest shocks in recent years if Osorio managed to overcome Swiatek here. Our predictions reflect that, which we’ll now look at in more detail.

Swiatek To Win The 1st Set 6-1 or 6-2

It goes without saying what a fabulous player Swiatek is and Osorio is arguably tailor made for her. We’re expecting the world number one to come out of the blocks quickly and stamp her authority on the match.  Osorio was broken twice in her victory over Udvardy in round one and you can expect Swiatek to at least double that in this one.

Under 17.5 Games

Following on with a similar theme, we’re predicting that Swiatek will not only get the first set finished quickly but the second one too. She hasn’t played three sets in her last six games and she isn’t going to start now. 50% of her last ten games have lasted less than 17 games and the majority of those have been against players ranked higher than Osorio. Essentially, we are expecting a quick and dominant display from the Pole.

Iga Swiatek vs Maria Camila Osorio Serrano Preview

With both players winning their opening matches in straight sets, they will both be in a confident mood ahead of the match. Let’s take a closer look at both players.

Iga Swiatek

There is arguably nobody across both women’s and men’s tennis in more form than Iga Swiatek. She followed up victory at the French Open last summer with a win at the US Open meaning she is looking to win her third grand slam in just over six months in Australia. She defeated Jule Niemeier in round one in relatively comfortable fashion, losing her serve on just one occasion at the beginning of the second set. Anything other than a tournament win would feel like a failure for the 21-year-old.

Maria Camila Osorio Serrano

Maria Camila Osorio Serrano is the same age as Swiatek but is following a more usual career pattern for someone of that age. She dips in between Challenger and WTA events and is currently ranked 84th in the world. With the rankings system so volatile in women’s tennis, it wouldn’t take much for her to break into the top 50 this year. Her form coming into the tournament was good, meaning Swiatek won’t be taking her lightly. She was also impressive in her opening round, straight-sets victory over Panna Udvardy.

Swiatek vs Osorio Head to Head

This will be the first time that the two 21-year-old’s play each other in professional competition. This could give Osorio the opportunity to spring a monumental surprise.
