Both of these guys are big hitters of the ball. Their games are perfectly suited to the quicker hard courts and hot conditions of Melbourne Park. Yet interestingly, they’ve only played once in the past and it was Hurkacz who sealed the win. As for their 2023 form, Korda is certainly one of the main players to beat at the moment. He had a match point against Djokovic in Adelaide before losing to him in the final. In contrast, Hurkacz has been somewhat mixed.

Hurkacz has also endured two five-setters in a row to reach the 4th round, whereas Koda has lost just one set in the opening round. So taking these factors into account, let me give an explanation for the tips given.

Given the form that this guy has been in so far this season, I just have to go with a win for Korda. He has been prolific in this hard-court swing, and he dismantled Medvedev in the previous round. Therefore, I believe he has the game, the ability, and the confidence required to take down Hurkacz.

Sebastian Korda has been climbing the rankings rapidly over the last few years. In his first appearance in the Australian Open main draw (2022), he made the third round. So he has bested this on just his second attempt, and he’s done so by taking down last year’s finalist in the form of Daniil Medvedev. So for me, he is a real dark horse to win this event.
