Last week, Hurkacz played one match for his country in the Davis Cup defeating Kaipo Marhsall from Barbados 7-5, 6-0.

His best result this season was the title in Marseille and he also made it to the semifinal in Cincinnati and Stuttgart.

Frances Tiafoe

Tiafoe is currently 11th in the rankings, one spot shy of his career high. The American is 37-20 for the season and 21-9 on hard surface.

He is coming off a difficult week at the Davis Cup losing his both singles matches against Borna Gojo and Tallon Griekspoor.

Tiafoe won the titles in Houston and Stuttgart earlier this year and made it to the semifinals in Indian Wells.

Hurkacz leads Tiafoe 3-2 in the previous matches, and he has won the last three they played. Last year, in the opening round in Vienna, Hurkacz won 7-6, 3-6, 6-3. In the third round of the 2021 Indian Wells, the Polish had no mercy winning 6-3, 6-2. In the quarterfinals of the 2019 Winston Salem tournament, Tiafoe was close but still Hurkacz won 4-6, 7-6, 6-1. Both of Tiafoe’s wins came in 2018. In the group stage of the Next Gen tournament, the American won 4-1, 4-2, 2-4, 4-3 and in the second round in Washington, the score was 6-2, 6-4.
