Since Roland Garros has now started, I’ve got some exciting French Open predictions to share with you today. My predictions will cover who I think will win both the men’s and women’s singles events. But in addition to those, I’ve provided predictions that don’t solely focus on the tournament winners.

For example, some of my French Open predictions look at which of the top seeds might lose early, which underdogs to watch out for, and more. So, if you’re excited about the French Open and you want to consider a few wagers for the tournament, make sure you check out the sections below.

ATP French Open predictions

The draw for the 2024 French Open is fascinating on the men’s side. We have Rafa and Djokovic bidding to extend their Grand Slam records. But we also have young guys like Sinner, Alcaraz, Rune, and others looking to make an impact too. All of this adds up to create a very exciting tournament.

However, where does this leave us in terms of French Open predictions? Well, let me move forward and provide those predictions for the men’s singles event now.

Outright winner – Alexander Zverev

If you checked out my 2024 French Open preview, you’ll know that I’ve already picked Zverev as my winner on the men’s side. Then again, he does face Nadal in the first round of Roland Garros, which is a huge challenge right off the bat. But if he does win that match, which I believe he will, he will have the confidence and belief required to go all the way.

Additionally, he’s in arguably the best form of all the players in the draw, having won the Rome Masters right before Roland Garros.

Top seeds to lose early

In an event like Roland Garros, it’s relatively common for top seeds to crash out earlier than expected. That’s because highly ranked players receive a high seeding for the event, but they might not be great clay court players. Of course, that brings me to the French Open predictions for players who could lose early:

  • Daniil Medvedev – 5th seed
  • Hubert Hurkacz – 8th seed
  • Holger Rune – 13th seed

Each of these three players has either looked shaky in their opening match of the French Open or they’ve been in suspect form ahead of the event. So, for those reasons, betting against these guys in the opening rounds isn’t a bad shout.

French Open underdogs who could go far

I’ve picked three guys who could upset the odds and make a deep draw run at the 2024 French Open. Let me highlight those individuals now:

  • Hamad Medjedovic
  • Jan-Lennard Struff
  • Francisco Cerundolo

Medjedovic looked like a very dangerous player in Rome just a few weeks back, and he has an okay draw. As for Struff and Cerundolo, I feel these are two of the most underrated clay court players in the men’s event. Both can play sublime clay court tennis, and they can take out the big dogs on their day.

WTA French Open predictions

Moving to my predictions for the women’s singles event now, there are many possible surprises up ahead. While the outright winner might be a bit of a slam dunk, at least on paper, there are other exciting stories emerging for young guns and lower-ranked players. Therefore, as I’ve done for the men’s singles event, let me cover my French Open predictions for three key categories for the women’s singles now.

Outright winner – Iga Swiatek

For the women’s singles event, there is one player who stands tall above all others right now. Of course, that player is Iga Swiatek. She’s been the Queen of Clay throughout 2024 – winning both Madrid and Rome as she comes into Roland Garros for a possible hat-trick of titles.

You might recall that she has won Roland Garros for the last two years too, which makes this one of the easier French Open predictions for 2024!

Top seeds to lose early

I’ve checked out the full draw for the French Open women’s singles event, and I’ve identified a few vulnerable seeds. By this, I mean players who could lose in the early stages of the tournament, and I’ve shared my thoughts here:

  • Ons Jabeur – 8th seed
  • Jelena Ostapenko – 9th seed
  • Qinwen Zheng – 7th seed

Jabeur has been struggling with form and confidence of late, much like Ostapenko, which is why I think they could lose early. As for Zheng, she has a very tough draw, going up against Cornet in round one followed by Krueger or Korpatsch in round two.

French Open underdogs who could go far

Lastly, I’ve scrolled through the women’s singles draw and picked out the following three individuals to add to my French Open predictions for 2024:

  • Mirra Andreeva
  • Diane Parry
  • Paula Badosa

Both Andreeva and Parry are incredibly talented youngsters who are skating under the radar for many right now. Therefore, it could be beneficial to back them to win their opening matches or even bet that they reach a certain round of the tournament. As for Badosa, there are signs that she is regaining her previous form, and if she wins her opening game against Boulter, she could go far.
