With the third round of the 2024 BNP Paribas Open now established, it’s time for more tennis predictions today in relation to the matches in the desert. Here we have Tiafoe vs Tsitsipas in what is one of the most interesting clashes of them all, and I’ve given my thoughts on the possible outcome of this game within.
Our favourite Frances Tiafoe vs Stefanos Tsitsipas predictions
Contents
The upcoming match between the American and the Greek is a battle of the 18th vs 11th seeds, respectively. This alone shows that this match could be a tight one, and the head-to-head backs this up, too, as it stands at 3-2 in Tiafoe’s favour. But they’ve not played one another since 2022, so how will this one go down?
Let me reveal my predictions for this match now.
Tiafoe to win @ 21/10 (3.10)
Tiafoe has had a bit of a subpar season so far. Then again, so too has Stefanos Tsitsipas. However, Tiafoe has beaten Tsitsipas on three separate occasions in the past, and as we all know, he loves putting on a show for the home fans. For me, this means he will have extra motivation to get the job done today.
Tiafoe +3.5 games handicap @ 17/20 (1.85)
At the very least, I expect Frances Tiafoe to grab a set against the Greek. And if he does this, the chances for a +3.5 games handicap for Tiafoe when all is said and done is very high. I say this because I believe he will push Tsitsipas all the way, regardless of the result.
Frances Tiafoe vs Stefanos Tsitsipas odds
The latest odds suggest Tiafoe has just a 32.30% probability of winning this match. However, the chance of Tsitsipas winning the match is 74.10%.
Does Tiafoe have enough to take out the 11th seed in Indian Wells?
Since Tiafoe is such a showman, we always cover Tiafoe’s next match with added enjoyment. Yet, how are things shaping up for both of these guys at the moment?
Frances Tiafoe preview
Ahead of this encounter, Tiafoe is ranked just below Tsitsipas at 18 in the world. As for his recent results, while they haven’t been amazing, they haven’t exactly been atrocious either. He’s still made the quarters in Dallas and the semis in Delray Beach in recent times, and he’s lost to guys who played out of their skin to beat him.
Stefanos Tsitsipas preview
In the last 12 months or so, Tsitsipas has lost a bit of his spark, and he is now ranked outside of the top 10. That said, he’s obviously a fantastic athlete and a great ball striker, which is why he’s such a threat on tour. And much like Tiafoe, Tsitsipas has a semi-final and quarter-final on his record in recent weeks, so his form is okay.
Tiafoe vs Tsitsipas head to head
In what has been an interesting rivalry so far, it’s Tiafoe who has the edge over Tsitsipas here with a 3-2 head to head record against the Greek. Adding to that, Tiafoe has beaten Tsitsipas the last two times they’ve played.
