Croatia failed in the opening match against the USA in the Davis Cup Finals Group stages in front of the home fans in Split. Nothing but a win is an option for the Croats on Friday when they go against Finland. The Scandinavians are also with their back against the wall and if they manage to win on Friday it will be a real sensation.

Our favourite Croatia vs Finland match predictions

Both teams lost in the opening round and whoever losses this one will have no chance to advance to the Final 8 tournament. Check in our predictions and tips article.

Croatia to win 3-0

Croatia has a solid lineup even without their top player Borna Coric in the singles matches. Gojo is on the rise as he defeated Frances Tiafoe in the match against the USA and he will have to win his singles match again against Finland. Croatia has plenty of options for the doubles match and they are a huge favorite even if they lose one of the singles matches. However, Croatia is the better team and with the support of the home crowd in Split, they will win this matchup easily with 3-0 and keep their chances to advance to the final tournament in Malaga.

Will the home team book their ticket to the Final 8?

Now that we have our Croatia vs Finland prediction, let’s have a quick look at all the details about the teams.

Croatia preview

Croatia has not long history playing in the Davis Cup but they have two titles in 2005 and 2018 as well as two second places. They lost the first round match against the USA and now will have to win the other two in order to advance. Things would be much better if they had their top players in the lineup but Borna Coric and the former US Open winner Marin Cilic are not with the team. Croatia has one of the best doubles players on the tour and even though they lost against USA, their doubles team will be ready to step up if a potential decisive match.

Full team

  • Borna Gojo
  • Dino Prizmic
  • Dude Ajdukovic
  • Ivan Dodik
  • Mate Pavic

Captain: Vendra Martic

Finland preview

Finland is not among the top teams in this competition and even seeing them going this far is a huge success for this Scandinavian country. Emil Ruusuvuori is the only high-level player on the Finland team but it is hard to believe that he will be able to take his team to victory by himself. Finland loss 2-1 against the Netherlands in the first round of the competition and now will have to beat Croatia in Split in order to keep their chances for the final tournament.

Full team

  • Emil Ruusuvuori
  • Harri Heliovaara
  • Otto Virtanen
