Our favourite Canada vs Italy match predictions
Contents
Both teams will miss their best players in the lineups, which makes this matchup difficult to predict. However, here you can find all our tennis predictions and tips.
Italy to win 3-0
Italy will play in front of the home crowd in Bologna but will be without their top two players Jannik Sinner and Matteo Berrettini who are both injured. The 21-year-old Lorenzo Musetti is the star player on the team and he has been in great shape recently. Fabio Fognini has been left out of the team and the team captain Filippo Volandri decided to give a chance to Vavassori and Arnaldi.
Canada is also without their highest ranked player, Felix Auger-Aliassime who is not having his best season. Denis Shapovalov is their highest ranked player who is also not in good shape. Given that, Italy will be dominant in this matchup and win probably all three matches, including the doubles.

Can the defending champions start with a win?
Now that we have our Canada vs Italy prediction, let’s see how these teams performed in the previous editions of the Davis Cup.
Canada preview
Seemingly out of nowhere Canda won the Davis Cup last season for the first time in history. Felix Auger-Aliassime was the key man for the team but the world No. 14 will not be in Bologna. He has fallen out of the top 10 in the world and has barely won any matches in the last couple of months. Denis Shapovalov is the star in the team and he also has not been very active in the last period as he was more focused on his personal life. Gabriel Diallo recently got to his first ever ATP win and he and Alexis Galarneau will need to step up.
Full team
- Denis Shapovalov
- Vasek Pospisil
- Gabriel Diallo
- Alexis Galarneau
Captain: Frank Dancevic
Italy preview
Italy seemed like a real contender just a month ago but without Jannik Sinner and Matteo Berrettini, they will have a tough time advancing to the Final 8 tournament. Lorenzo Musetti is the hope of the Italian fans who has a good season and can handle the pressure of this matches despite his age. Lorenzo Sonego is another solid player who can be really good if he manages to be consistent on the serve. Veteran Simone Bolelli will probably play the doubles and his experience may have a major impact on this matchup.
