The defending Davis Cup champion Canada has a perfect record after the first two rounds of the Davis Cup Finals Group stages and is going in the last round against Chile with no pressure at all. That cannot be said about the South American team who will need to win in order to move on to the Final 9 tournament in Malaga.

Our favourite Canada vs Chile match predictions

Chile will be under pressure in this match, and nothing but a win will keep their hopes alive. Can they advance to the final tournament, read in the following lines and also check out our predictions and tips.

Chile to win 2-1

Canada has not lost a match in Bologna beating Italy and Sweden with 3-0. Many would say that such results are expected from a defending champion, but if we look at Canada’s roster, things did not look that promising. Canada is already through to the final tournament and that increases Chile’s chances. They have split the first two matchups and will need to win this one in order to advance. Looking at their roster, that is not impossible at all especially with Canada having no reason to push hard. Chile has the quality and the competitiveness to win this one and hopefully move to the Final 8 tournament.

Can Chile secure a spot for the Final 8?

Now that we have our Canada vs Chile prediction, let’s see how these teams performed in the previous editions of the Davis Cup.

Canada preview

Seemingly out of nowhere Canda won the Davis Cup last season for the first time in history. With Felix Auger-Aliassime out of the lineup, things did not look so promising for Canada, but here they are with a 2-0 record already through to the Final 8 tournament. They lost no match in the first two rounds stunning the home team Italy and leaving Sweden to zero. Gabriel Diallo and Alexis Galarneau are the top stories in Bologna as the two youngsters made things happen for the defending champions. Veteran Vasek Pospisil is the vocal leader of the team and he showed that he can still play on high level both in singles and doubles matches.

  • Denis Shapovalov
  • Vasek Pospisil
  • Gabriel Diallo
  • Alexis Galarneau

Chile preview

Chile has an excellent team with players who are ready to leave their heart on the court. What makes things difficult for them in Bologna is the hard surface and whoever follows tennis knows that the Chileans play mostly on clay. Nicolas Jarry has an excellent serve and he may be dangerous in the single matches. The rest of the team will bite as usual and Chile has realistic chance to advance to the Final 8 tournament which would be their biggest success in Davis Cup history after finishing as runner ups in 1976.

  • Alejandro Tabilo
  • Nicolas Jarry
  • Cristian Garin
