Karatsev best result this season was the semifinal in Madrid where he lost to Jan-Lennard Struff. This will be his second appearance at the Citi Open after reaching the second round last year.
Frances Tiafoe
Tiafoe has recently reached his career high ranking, being No. 10 in the world. The 25-year-old is 30-14 for the season and 14-5 on hard surface.
He is coming back in action after taking three weeks off after the third round loss to Grigor Dimitrov at Wimbledon.
Tiafoe has won two titles this season, recently in Stuttgart and in April in Houston. His best result at the Citi Open is last year’s quarterfinals where he lost to Nick Kyrgios.
