Andrey Rublev vs Daniel Evans – Match Predictions
Contents
While Rublev is the more talented player, Evans has the bigger heart and won’t give up until the last point is won. With that in mind, let’s examine our predictions a little closer:
Prediction 1: Daniel Evans to win a set
Evans has had a really impressive start to the tournament and, like Rublev, has only dropped one set in his opening two matches. While the calibre of opponent is about to dramatically increase for the 32-year-old he has shown on multiple occasions over the years that he can hang around with the very biggest names in the sport. It would be a big surprise if he lost this in straight sets.
Prediction 2: Over 37.5 games
Both of these players are supremely fit athletes so the possibility of this match going to four or five sets is absolutely on the cards. Over 37.5 games means that the game will at least go to four sets which we believe is almost guaranteed. Both players have played one four-set match in the tournament so far, and both of those matches had a total of 40 games. Neither of the players that took these guys to 40 games were as good as Rublev or Evans, either.
Andrey Rublev vs Daniel Evans Preview
With our predictions locked in, lets’ take a closer look at both of the players to see how they’re shaping up ahead of this crunch match.
Andrey Rublev
Big things were expected of Andrey Rublev when he came through the ranks as a teenager on the ATP Tour. He won his first ATP title at the age of 19 but he has perhaps flattered to deceive ever since. Although he is ranked sixth in the world, he has never made it past the quarter-finals of a grand slam, something he will be desperate to change this year. For a player of his ability, he should be making finals and even winning the sport’s premier events.
Daniel Evans
Daniel Evans spent the majority of the first half of his career in the shadow of Andy Murray and making stupid mistakes. However, he has managed to turn his fortunes around in the second part of his career and his made a name for himself in the top 32. He is yet to progress further than the fourth round in a major, and at the age of 32, time may well be running out for him to change that.
Andrey Rublev vs Daniel Evans Head to Head
This will be the 9th time that Rublev and Evans have played each other on the ATP Tour. They have both won four matches each which just shows how close this match could be and the winner will get the lead in h2h record, in addition to a place in the fourth round at Australian Open.
