Adding to that, Popyrin is actually the higher-ranked of the two players, as he is ranked 58 while Ruusuvuori is ranked 60.

Emil Ruusuvuori is a difficult guy to play against when he gets going. He has a great serve, and he has some of the most powerful groundstrokes on tour. In fact, his game is very similar to Jannik Sinner’s, only he’s not quite as consistent as the Italian. With that said, he played a great match to take out Andrey Rublev in the previous round. So he is obviously hitting top form at the Western & Southern Open.
