These odds from Ladbrokes were correct at the time of writing.

Alexander Shevchenko vs Daniel Evans – Match Predictions

Both players made it to the round of 16 against the odds and now have a unique opportunity to go deep at the Citi Open.

Alexander Shevchenko +2.5 games

Daniel Evans is not having a good season and he is still trying to get back in his recognizable shape. He played well in the opening round against Gregoire Barrere who is very good on hard surfaces. Evans is considered as favorite in the match against Shevchenko but things would not go smoothly against the young Russian. Shevchenko is improving his game consistently this season and will be able to cover the +2.5 games spread in this match.

Over 22.5 games

Neigher Shevhcneko or Evans are known as great servers. Shevchenko is in better shape in general while the Brit is much more experienced. This will be a match that can go in both directions and as the stakes are high, it will be a tough tennis battle that will go over 22.5 games.

Alexander Shevchenko vs Daniel Evans Preview

Daniel Evans is far from the form we have seen in him in past seasons but his first round performance looked really promising. He will have a chance to return to the quarterfinals in Washington DC in the match against Shevchenko.

Alexander Shevchenko

Shevchenko is currently 93rd in the ATP rankings and he has never been higher than 84th place. The 22-year-old is 29-22 for the season and 14-9 on hard surface.

In the opening round, the Russian defeated Maxime Cressy 6-3, 7-6. The real upset he made in the second round defeating Sebastian Korda after being a set down for a final 5-7, 7-6, 6-4 win.

Shevchenko won two challenger tournaments earlier this year, in Tenerife and Madrid and he lost the final in Phoenix.

Daniel Evans

Evans is currently 30th in the ATP rankings which is not bad at all since he has played only 30 matches the entire season.

Evans is 11-19 for the season and 4-6 on hard. He is coming off a 2-6, 6-0, 6-3 win over Gregoire Barrere in the opening match in Washington DC. That was his first win after losing the opening matches in the last five tournaments.

Evans’ best result this season were the semifinals in Marrakech and Barcelona.
