Rangers v Real Betis could be a spicy fixture to open up the Europa League games this season. With Real Betis likely to be group favourites, despite Rangers coming into the competition via the Champions League qualification stage. The fixture will also be the first time the two sides have ever faced off against one another.

Real Betis come into the fixture with a point to prove. Having just been on the end of a 5-0 demolishing by Barcelona, their eyes turn to Europe as the Spanish side faces a tough test in Scotland.
Form-wise, both sides are a little all over the place. Rangers come into the game off the back of a win in the league, and despite a loss to Celtic, they have done well in the league so far. It’s been a tough start for Betis, however, who have already played six league games, picking up just eight points so far.

Rangers will be without Davies and Dowell, who will continue to sit out, with both expected to be back in late September. The major blow for Rangers is Todd Cantwell, who continues to sit out after picking up an injury that kept him out of the weekend fixture. Danilo suffered an injury at the weekend, though we suspect Rangers will take a risk.
Rangers will likely look to keep things mostly the same after their win at the weekend, with Europe being a clear focus for them this season. We will likely see a setup shift for Rangers, however, who opted for a fairly midfield-heavy 4231 against St. Johnstone. We suspect they’ll revert to a 433 against Betis.
Rangers predicted lineup: 4-3-3
Butland – Tavernier – Goldson – Davies – Ridvan – Lundstram – Raskin – Lawrence – Lammers – Roofe – Danilo
Team News: Real Betis
It was a weekend to forget for Betis, and one they’ll need to bounce back from against Rangers. With a long injury list, Betis will need to dig deep to get a result in Scotland, though they’ve at least been consistent with their style of play so far. With two midfielders playing in a holding role, with 3 advanced midfielders, Betis are able to pull width from their full-backs in Miranda and Bellerin. Both of whom will be key at breaking down Rangers’ defence.
Real Betis predicted lineup:4231
Silva – Bellerin – Pezzella – Felipe – Miranda – Rodriquez – Roca – Rodri – Isco – Perez – Jose
Rangers v Real Betis predicted lineups – Will Danilo play for Rangers?
Having scored the opener against St. Johnstone, Danilo is a doubt for the Betis game, having undergone surgery on a nasty fracture. What might give Rangers fans some hope, however, is that Danilo took to Instagram to say “A small surgery for my head injury, but I’m good and I hope to be back on the field as soon as possible”.
Whether it is still too soon for him remains to be seen. What is clear is that Danilo has been a key man for Rangers already, scoring twice in the league so far. But the good news is that Matondo, who came on for Danilo, also scored at the weekend. As such, the side won’t be too short at the top of the pitch if Danilo isn’t deemed ready.
