Nantes vs Marseille predicted lineups and news

Les Canaris are despereate to pick themselves up and register a first win of the season, but will have to improve their defensive record if they are to have a chance in this game. Pierre Aristoy’s side have conceded seven goals already this season, the most in Ligue 1 so far. It is a problem that dates back to last season, at home they’ve only kept one cleansheet in the last 10 top division games. Meanwhile visitors Marseille are off to a great start sitting joint top of the table with two wins and a draw so far. The team have scored two goals in each of their opening three matches, although it is worth noting that they have a patchy away record in Ligue 1 having won just one of their last six.

Team news: Nantes

Remy Deschamps is expected to remain in goal with first-choice stopper Alban Lafont still sidelined with a rib injury, meanwhile they are also missing Fabien Centonze and Nathan Zeze in a depleted defence. Those injuries and the poor start to the season has resulted in the signing of central defender Jean-KΓ©vin Duverne who was announced on Thusrday on a free transfer from Brest. However, it is unlikely the 26-year-old of Haitian descent will be ready for this match so Castelleto, Pallois and Pierre-Gabriel are set to continue in a back three.

Further forward things have looked brighter for the team in yellow and green as Egyptian striker Mostafa Mohamed scored twice against Monaco to take his season tally to three goals in as many starts. He will lead the line with support from Kader Bamba and Moses Simon with Brazilian loanee Marquinhos still not in line to start since crossing the channel from Arsenal.

Nantes predicted lineup: 3-4-2-1

Deschamps – Pierre-Gabriel, Pallois, Castelletto – Coco, Chirivella, Augusto, Merlin- Simon, Bamba – Mohamed

Team news: Marseille

After the huge penalty shootout disappointment against Panathinaikos that left Marseille out of the Champions League there were question marks how they might bounce back. But after a nervy draw with Metz they were comfortable in last weekend’s victory against Brest as Chancel Mbemba settled the nerves inside five minutes before Ismaila Sarr rounded off the win.

Les Olympiens have also made a defensive signing as they picked up Panamanian defender Amir Murillo from Belgian club Anderlecht. Both Murillo and fellow defender Geoffrey Kondogbia are returning from injuries that will mean they don’t feature until after the international break. That means we can expect to see the same side that saw off Brest as Marcelino continues with his preferred 4-4-2 formation. The only possible changes would be Vitinha replacing Ndiaye up front and Guendouzi finding his way back into the middle ahead of either Valentin Roniger or Jordan Veretout.

Marseille predicted lineup: 4-4-2

Lopez – Clauss, Gigot, Mbemba, Lodi – Sarr, Rongir, Veretout, Harit – Aubameyang, Ndiaye
