Harry Kane trophies: When can the England captain next win some silverware

Whilst it might not have been the debut Harry Kane had anticipated in a Bayern Munich jersey, he will still expect to lift trophies over the course of his spell in Germany. A sold-out Allianz Arena oversaw a shock 3-0 victory for RB Leipzig in the DFL-Supercup on Saturday night, and Kane will now be looking ahead to making his full debut in the near future.

30-year-old Kane appeared as a 63rd minute sub, with Bayern already two goals behind at that stage. The England captain entered that match on the back of no training with his new team mates, only completing his first session on Sunday morning, prior to his official welcoming press conference. He signed for a club record fee, taking the number nine shirt in the process.

The DFL-Supercup is the traditional curtain-raiser ahead of the new Bundesliga season, similar to that of the Community Shield the week before the Premier League campaign starting. A Dani Olmo hat-trick proved to be the difference between the two teams on the night, but Kane’s focus turns to league action, with an away trip to Werder Bremen coming up next Friday.

Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel no doubt will be expecting big things of his main man, and he will surely go straight into his starting XI next time up. Kane ultimately made the switch to the reigning Bundesliga champions in search of trophies, something he was unable to achieve at former club Tottenham Hotspur. The question is, how soon will he potentially have to wait to gain his first trophy with his new club?

Here, we take a look at some of the key periods of the season as to when Kane may be able to lift either his maiden trophy with the club, or additional trophies should they win say a double or treble for example.

Harry Kane trophy chase: Bundesliga – May 2024

As is often the case, teams that win the league will look to do so at their final home match of the season, if at all possible. This does not fall on their last clash of the season however, so it may not be so straightforward.

Bayern end their Bundesliga season with a trip to Hoffenheim on May 18th 2024. The week before, they perform at home to Wolfsburg on what will be either the 10th or 12th May 2024, as things stand. Therefore, Bayern and Kane will be hoping to lift the trophy on one of these dates, meaning they would have successfully retained their crown.

Harry Kane trophy chase: DFB-Pokal – May 25th 2024

Bayern’s first DFK-Pokal fixture comes with an away encounter to Preußen Münster, who are in the third-tier of German football, on September 26th 2023. It remains to be seen if Tuchel will use his big names, such as Kane, is this match, but if they were to reach the final, he’d be a certain starter.

The final itself will take place on May 25th 2024 at Olympiastadion in Berlin, the home of Hertha Berlin and some Germany national team clashes. The club has won this trophy on 20 occasions, last doing so in 2020. Kane twice reached a domestic cup final during his time at Tottenham, when finishing as runners-up in the League Cup in 2014/15 and 2020/21.

Harry Kane trophy chase: UEFA Champions League – June 1st 2024

Arguably the main reason Kane is a Bayern Munich player is because of their intentions in the UEFA Champions League. Spurs are not in this competition, nor are they certain to qualify season-on-season like Bayern are, plus the German side are realistic contenders every time they take part.

An added incentive for Kane to perform well in this competition is because the final shall take place at Wembley Stadium in London. The England captain has enjoyed many great nights at the historic venue, and will hope to add another here. The 2023/24 UEFA Champions League Final will be held on June 1st 2024, with an 8pm kick off local time.

Furthermore, Kane will be hoping to win various individual trophies during his time with the German giants, although clearly preference is for winning titles for his team. The former Leicester City loan player could win respective Player of the Month and Player of the Year awards, whilst the Ballon d’Or could be a more realistic accolade to claim now representing one of the top clubs in Europe.
