It’s been over four years since Rickie Fowler’s last win on the PGA Tour at the 2019 Waste Management Phoenix Open. A lot has happened since that time, including a tumble down the world rankings and having to Monday qualify for certain majors.
The 34-year-old has regained his mojo this year and leads the Rocket Mortgage Classic at 20-under par, one stroke ahead of Adam Hadwin and two better than Taylor Pendrith. Nine other players remain within striking distance at 16-under, including Collin Morikawa.

Key Moments of the Day
The following section will highlight the memorable moments from the third round.
Rickie Fowler holds the solo lead
For the second time in exactly two weeks, Rickie Fowler owns the 54-hole lead heading into the final round of an event. The former Oklahoma State Cowboy was the co-leader with Wyndham Clark at the U.S. Open, but this time, he sits alone at the top.
The five-time winner on the PGA Tour was electric on Saturday, recording an 8-under 64 that featured nine birdies compared to just one bogey. An incredible run of six birdies in his final eight holes, including a tap-in (2-feet-nine inches) on 18 after sticking it from 112 yards with a wedge, put him a shot clear of Hadwin and the rest of the field.

It’s been a whirlwind few years for Fowler; he went from being a staple in the top 10 of the Official World Golf Rankings to falling out of the top 100 by the end of 2022. He’s currently ranked 35th, and a win would mean everything to him after working so hard to find his form and change his swing.
Adam Hadwin ties course record
The Canadian tied the course record with his bogey-free 9-under round of 63, which featured seven birdies and an impressive eagle on hole 14. Hadwin has contended four times this season with four top-10 finishes, including a solo second at the Zurich Classic in New Orleans (team event).

His lone victory on the PGA Tour came at the 2017 Valspar Championship, where he defeated Patrick Cantlay by a stroke.
Ludvig Aberg falls out of contention
The former No. 1 ranked amateur entered the day one shot back of the lead in a tie for third with Fowler. Through 13 holes, Aberg was three-under for his round before collapsing and recording a double bogey seven on the 14th, followed by back-to-back bogeys on 15 and 16.
The former Texas Tech Red Raider was the only player in the top 60 to record an over-par round (1-over 73) and sits in a tie for 26th at 11-under.
Nine players are within four strokes of the lead
Sunday is set for a mouthwatering finish, and the contest is wide open for the taking. Two-time major winner Collin Morikawa and Taylor Moore (won the Valspar Championship in March) headline the players at 16-under par.
Taylor Pendrith, who finished in a tie for second in last year’s edition, is two strokes behind and is attempting to claim his maiden victory on tour.
