How much money has McIlroy earned from sponsorships?
McIlory is an elite golfer, a big personality and a winner – the three ingredients which make him one of the most marketable athletes on the planet. The fact he is good friends with Tiger Woods has also helped his case over the years when it has come to securing big sponsorship deals.
Over the years, McIlroy has enjoyed deals with the likes of Oakley, Omega, TaylorMade and Nike. He was even once the face of EA Sports’ golf game, making him the only golfer aside from Tiger Woods to be featured on the front of their golf title.
His two biggest contracts at this moment in time are with TaylorMade and Nike. This means that McIlroy plays with TaylorMade golf clubs and is paid $10m a year by the golf giant for the privilege. That current contract was signed in 2017, meaning McIlroy may well be eying up a new deal in four years’ time.
His Nike contract means that McIlroy will only ever be seen wearing Nike clothing on the golf course. He is also paid $10m per year by Nike and that contract is also due to expire in 2017. Through a series of other deals, it is believed that McIlroy nets around $35m per season through sponsorships alone.
