The Masters Tickets 2023 – Where to Buy Tickets for the Masters?

It’s Masters week which means the biggest names and the best players in the world of golf are congregating in Augusta, Georgia for the first major golf tournament of the year. The Masters is arguably the most prestigious golf tournament on the calendar with the winner guaranteeing themselves a place in golfing folklore for eternity.

As the four-day event (five if you include Wednesday’s par-3 contest) is so big, it’s only natural that tickets are hard to come by. With the competition starting in just three days, here is everything you need to know regarding ticket information.

How to get tickets for the Masters

The lottery

The easiest way to get tickets for the Masters is by applying for tickets each year via the lottery system on the official website. The lottery is now closed for 2023 but will open up again in June for the event in 2024.

The lottery is open to all and you can apply for both tournament days (Thursday-Sunday) and practice days (Monday-Tuesday). Those who are successful in the tournament ballot are eligible to purchase a maximum of two tickets while those successful in the practice ballot are eligible to purchase four.

Patron badges

A patron badge is effectively like having a Masters season ticket. You pay a yearly fee $375 and in return you can turn up throughout the entire week whenever you want. These badges are so exclusive that nobody knows how many are actually in circulation.

It is also impossible to obtain one unless your spouse currently has one. Rules state that when a patron badge owner dies it is automatically passed on to a surviving spouse. If there is no surviving spouse then it’s given back to Augusta National who then re-allocates it to the next person on the waiting list. The patron badge waiting list has been closed since 2000.

Secondary markets

The only way to get tickets for the 2023 Masters at this late stage is by going through secondary markets. Please exercise caution when purchasing tickets from people online as there is no guarantee that the ticket will be legitimate. You will also end up paying way over the odds as the Masters is second only to the Super Bowl in the US in terms of ticket demand.

How much are tickets for the Masters?

Through the lottery, tickets for the Masters aren’t particularly expensive in comparison to other major sporting events. For tournament days, tickets cost $140 and for practice days, tickets cost $100. You have to be over the age of 21 to purchase tickets.

What are the chances of getting a Masters ticket?

The chances of getting a Masters ticket through the lottery are less than 1%. Millions of people put their names in the hat each year and there are roughly only 22,000 tickets available each day for people in the lottery. However, this is still higher than the chance of getting a patron badge so it still presents the easiest, cheapest, and most secure route into Augusta – you’ve just got to be lucky.

How to watch the Masters?

If you can’t get tickets for the Masters then the next best thing is to set yourself up on your sofa and enjoy all the action on your television. Viewers in the United Kingdom will be able to watch all four days on SkySports Main Event and SkySport Golf while viewers in the USA will be able to watch on CBS, ESPN, and NBC.

If you would rather stream the tournament, then you can do so via the official Masters website and/or mobile phone app. For the best bits, then you should head to the Masters YouTube channel throughout the week.
