Round one at Real Golf Club Valderrama provided plenty of action, which featured Dustin Johnson and Jason Kokrak grabbing a share of the lead at 4-under par. Anirban Lahiri trails by one stroke in a solo third, and behind him at 2-under are Cameron Smith, Talor Gooch and Kevin Na.
Spaniard Sergio Garcia is currently in a tie for seventh at 1-under after his round of 70. There are two more days to go before a champion is crowned at the LIV Golf Invitational Valderrama. We’ll provide a second-round betting tip for a Friday matchup prediction we see value in.
LIV Valderrama Day 2 prediction: Head-to-head matchup
This head-to-head matchup tip is solely for the 18 holes played on Saturday.
Sergio Garcia over Dean Burmester @ 20/33 (-165)
Garcia is playing in his home country, where he feels extremely comfortable, which should certainly give him an edge over the 34-year-old South African. The Borriol, Spain native has won the Andalucia Masters at Real Club Valderrama on three occasions in 2011, 2016 and 2017.
He’s made 15 professional appearances at the venue, which includes 14 top 10 finishes, according to LIV’s official website. Garcia has also come in second place a trio of times. One of those came as the result of losing to Ian Poulter in a playoff at the 2004 Volvo Masters.
In his most recent start at Real Club Valderamma at the 2022-2023 Andalucia Masters, “El Niño” put together rounds of 66, 72, 73 and 70 as he ended the tournament in seventh place.
Garcia does perform better than Burmester during the second rounds on the LIV Tour. The Spaniard is averaging .72 strokes lower on Fridays.

Both players came into the tournament with solid form and sit in a tie for seventh at 1-under par. Garcia has come close to his first LIV victory after finishing second in LIV Singapore after when he lost in a playoff to Talor Gooch. If he wants to win in Spain, it’s important he puts together a good round on moving day.
The last time Garcia teed it up was at the U.S. Open, where his game looked sharp as he finished in a tie for 27th after rounds of 70, 71, 71 and 70 (2-over).
Anything can happen over the course of 18 holes, but with Garcia’s vast experience at the course and history of providing clutch moments in big events such as the Ryder Cup, Masters and Players Championship over the years, there’s a good chance he’ll shoot better. Anytime you’re offered a matchup where one player has played the course since he was 13 years old, the choice is pretty obvious.
