The LIV Golf Invitational Series returns to the United States for the first time since May after making stops in Andalucia, Spain, and London for the previous two events.

The Greenbrier, in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, will host the 48 golfers from Aug. 4-6 competing for the $4 million individual top prize ($20 million individual purse), and $5 million will be up for grabs as the team purse.

Australian Cameron Smith is the favorite to win at 9/1, followed by Brooks Koepka (12/1), Bryson DeChambeau (13/1) and Patrick Reed (15/1).

Smith is coming off a win at LIV London (finished 15-under par), where he defeated Reed and fellow Aussie Marc Leishman by a stroke.

A variety of wager types are available for this event over the next few days. We’ll provide two betting tips ahead of day one in this piece.

LIV Golf Invitational Greenbrier Day 1 Prediction: Tournament Finish

The following tip is for the 54 holes played throughout the entire tournament.

Cameron Smith to finish top 10 @ 10/11 (-110)

The Australian has been arguably the most consistent performer on the entire LIV Tour this season. Smith is coming off a win, his third career LIV triumph, during his previous LIV start at Centurion Golf Club.

Smith has earned six top 10s in nine starts on the LIV Tour this season. In five of his last six appearances on the Saudi-backed tour, he’s finished inside the top 10.

Across 14 events this campaign, which includes the four majors and DP World Tour, the 29-year-old has finished 10th or better in nine of them (64.3% of the time).

Cam Smith’s results (LIV only)

  • Starts: 14
  • Wins: 3
  • Top 5s: 7
  • Top 10s: 9

Despite only winning once this season on LIV, Smith has the best average finishing position (9.8) of any player on the tour.

With only 48 players in each LIV Tournament, the 10/11 (-110) odds provided by Betfair for Smith to finish top 10 this week definitely hold value.

LIV Greenbrier Prediction: Top Golfer by Category

The tip below is for the entirety of the event.

Sergio Garcia to finish top Spaniard @ 10/13 (-130)

I’ve successfully taken Garcia as the top Spaniard before, and while other bets are extremely tempting, he continues to receive excellent odds of 10/13.

While Garcia is obviously not in his prime anymore, he continues to play solid golf and contend. His opponents, Eugenio Lopez-Chacarra and David Puig have shown glimpses and short bursts of success but haven’t been able to consistently post high finishes.

The 2017 Masters champion, Garcia, has recorded a better result in six-of-nine starts compared to Puig. He’s also been superior in six of the eight shared tournaments versus Lopez-Chacarra.

The former Ryder Cup hero, Garcia, has already earned three top 10s in 2023, along with a T11. In his latest start at LIV London, he didn’t perform well according to his standards with a T21.

The T21 was still enough to earn him the top Spaniard as Puig ended up tied for 40th and Lopez Chacarra finished tied for 26th.

Lopez-Chacarra and Puig have only finished in the top 10 once each this season, and both have much worse average finishing positions than Garcia.
