Dustin Johnson is rightfully regarded as one of the best golfers of his generation. He has two major championship wins to his name and is second only to Tiger Woods in terms of World Golf Championship wins. In total, he has 24 wins on the PGA Tour and is still only 38 years of age.
In recent years, Johnson’s game has gone in a different direction after he decided to leave the PGA Tour to move to the LIV Golf Series. The new Saudi-backed tour offers players the opportunity to play fewer games for more money and Johnson was one of the first “big names” to sign up for the new tour.
Dustin Johnson’s Form this Season
Contents
Compared to his fellow professionals on the PGA Tour, Dustin Johnson’s competition time has been limited. While the PGA Tour has held events every week since September, the LIV Golf Series only had its third tournament of the season last weekend in Orlando.
With only three tournaments played so far this year, Johnson hasn’t been able to get going as of yet, although he has improved with each passing one. The LIV Golf Tour kicked off 2023 with a trip to Mexico where Johnson finished in 37th place after three poor rounds. He followed that up with a 13th-place finish in Arizona in the middle of March before finishing in 7th last weekend in Orlando.
He would have liked more time on the course before the first major of the year, although the signs are there that his game is heading in the right direction at least. One thing that may concern him is the fact that he hasn’t tasted success since September when he won LIV’s Boston invitational.
Best Result

Dustin Johnson’s Masters Record
Dustin Johnson has generally enjoyed fantastic performances around Augusta National throughout his career. He has played in 12 tournaments here throughout his career and has only failed to make the cut on two occasions.
His best run of form at the Masters came between 2015-2020 when he enjoyed five consecutive top-ten finishes which culminated in the greatest week of his career when he finally got his hands on the famous green jacket, obliterating the course record in the process.
Finishing with a score of -20, Johnson took full advantage of the Autumnal conditions at Augusta with the event taking place in November due to the coronavirus pandemic. He finished five shots clear of Cameron Smith in second place and it is likely a record that will be in place for many years to come.
The year after winning the tournament, Johnson had a miserable experience at Augusta and finished tied for 60th.
Dustin Johnson’s Performance at the Masters So Far
Over the opening two rounds of the 2023 Masters, Dustin Johnson enjoyed a steady 36 holes. He finished the first round with a score of -1 which put him in a healthy position on the leaderboard. His second effort of even par will have disappointed him as his has left him eleven shots behind Brooks Koepka at the top of the leaderboard.
Johnson has comfortably made the cut, though, so he will get to enjoy a weekend of golf at Augusta National.
Odds on Dustin Johnson to Win the Masters
If Dustin Johnson was still playing week in, week out on the PGA Tour then he would likely have been right up there as one of the favourites before the tournament started. However, his limited time on the course resulted in the bookmakers offering longer odds on the two-time major champion.
Before the tournament, he was a 25/1 shot to win his second green jacket and after two rounds his odds have dropped to 250/1.
Dustin Johnson Tee Times
Johnson had a late tee time on Thursday and an early one on Friday which meant he avoided the bad weather on Friday afternoon. On both days, Johnson played alongside two PGA Tour Players – Corey Conners and Justin Rose.
Hi tee time for the third round of the Masters is yet to be confirmed but it will be a later start than usual due half the field having to finish their second rounds on Saturday morning.
Dustin Johnson Masters Prediction – Top ten
Dustin Johnson’s pedigree around Augusta National, when combined with the fact his results and performances are currently moving in an upwards trajectory, indicate to us that he will have a strong finish in Georgia. A top-ten finish is very much on the cards for DJ.
