Monza will host the final European race of the 2023 F1 season. Before the series heads over to Asia and the Americas to close out the year, however, drivers will have the fast Italian Temple of Speed as a challenge. Will Verstappen and Red Bull triumph again, or will the other teams stop the historic winning streak?
Carlos Sainz podium finish @ 5/4 (2.25)
It was tricky to get a proper read on Friday practice results, given that most teams were worried about tyre allocation rather than laptimes. One of the few things that looked rather conclusive, however, was Ferrari’s pace. The Scuderia, and most specifically Carlos Sainz, was fairly consistent across both sessions.
The SF23 looked good in qualifying and race trims, turning competitive laptimes across the board. It was decent enough to warrant confidence in a home podium finish for the Italian team. Sainz has yet to finish on the rostrum this season, but the Spaniard looked better than teammate Charles Leclerc in both sessions. If we are backing a Ferrari podium this weekend, Sainz might be the better pick.
Ferrari double top 6 finish @ 4/7 (1.57)
Let’s hop into the Ferrari bandwagon this weekend. This is probably the best the Scuderia has looked all weekend, and the tifosi fans have reasons to feel confident ahead of their home Grand Prix. The SF23 had the top straightline speed on Friday, which is absolutely crucial around Monza – not just creating overtake opportunities, but also working as a defensive tool.
The Ferrari pair might have enough pace to produce a double top 6 at home. Given how the season has gone so far for the Italian squad, that would be an amazing result.
F1 Italian GP weather condition
After a weekend with mixed weather chaos in the Netherlands, F1 will welcome the forecast for the Italian GP. There is a 0% chance of rain all weekend, although the high temperatures, in the 25°C-29°C range, might create a few headaches, specially with the limited tyre allocation. Sunday will see the highest temperatures of the weekend.
