Austin hosts the fourth, and penultimate, F1 sprint of the 2023 season. Check out the predictions and odds available for Saturday’s event.

F1 Austin sprint top predictions and odds

With both the constructors’ and the drivers’ championship already decided, the last races will be all about winning. Charles Leclerc and Ferrari impressed on Friday, Mercedes showed some improved pace with its new floor, and Max Verstappen narrowly missed out on pole. Saturday’s shootout and sprint will offer a clearer perspective on how the field will shape up for Sunday.

Max Verstappen to win @ 2/5 (1.40)

Without his track limits infraction, Verstappen would likely have secured a front row spot at the very least. The Dutchman still looked the quickest on Friday, finishing FP1, Q1 and Q2 in the top 2. Under normal circumstances on Saturday, the three-time champion should be able to put yesterday’s disappointment behind him.

Red Bull could struggle with Austin’s bumpy surface, but the track’s high demand on downforce and tyre wear should be enough to make up for it.

Charles Leclerc top 2 finish @ 8/3 (3.67)

Ferrari’s single lap pace at Austin carried over from last year, when the Scuderia scored a front row sweep. This time around, Leclerc came through to top the field on Friday, leading both Q2 and Q3.

While the Monegasque was quickest on Friday, it remains to be seen whether or not the Italian team has the pace to challenge Verstappen on Saturday’s sprint, and also on Sunday’s GP. But, at the very least, Leclerc and Ferrari looked good enough for a top 2 finish.

F1 Austin sprint race weather condition

After surviving a gruelling sprint weekend in Qatar, drivers can expect another physically demanding day in Texas. Summer may be over already, but the hot weather is still around. When the lights go off on Saturday, drivers will be under a 34°C heat, and no wind. There is a 0% chance of rain.

  • How can I watch the F1 Austin sprint  live in the UK? You can follow the F1 Austin sprint live in the UK on Sky Sports (TV and streaming) and NOW (streaming).
  • Which tyres will be available in the F1 Austin sprint? Teams and drivers will have the C2, C3, and C4 tyres to choose from during the sprint weekend in Austin, giving them a middle-ground range. Under the sprint weekend rules, and because of the sprint shootout, tyre allocation will be slightly different from a regular Grand Prix weekend. Drivers will have one extra set of the C2 (hard) compound, at the expense of one fewer set of C4 tyres (soft). Austin’s bumpy and highly abbrasive layout, combined with the high temperatues, could produce some interesting action.
