Eintracht Frankfurt v Aberdeen predicted lineups: A cauldron awaits the Dons

Eintracht Frankfurt v Aberdeen predicted lineups – This match has the distinction of opening up the Conference League fixtures on Thursday night. Naturally, Frankfurt come into the game as overwhelming favourites, with their great start to the season a key factor.

On the flip side, Aberdeen have had a poor start to 2023/24, and find themselves in the Europa Conference League after a 5-3 aggregate defeat to Hacken in the Europa League qualifiers.

Eintracht Frankfurt v Aberdeen predicted lineups and news

It’s not been a great start to the season for Aberdeen. With Barry Robson’s men having picked up just two points so far, Aberdeen might need a distraction from their terrible league form. The Dons have also only scored three goals, while conceding nine in the process, and so will be desperate to turn their season around, but they face a side in rich current form.

Eintracht Frankfurt have gone unbeaten so far this season, though in the league, only one of their four games has been a win. But they had good success in the Conference League play-offs, dispatching Levski Sofia 3-1 over two legs – as expected in our predictions piece. So, attention turns to Aberdeen, and with a home fixture starting things off, Frankfurt will be looking to get off to a winning start.

Team News: Aberdeen

Aberdeen will be without Shayden Morris, and on loan defender Rhys Williams, who will be a major loss for the Scottish side. Sebastian Rode, who missed their weekend game due to illness, is expected to return in some form.

Aberdeen come into the fixture on the back of three losses, and will need to find something within themselves to get a result. Scoring has also been a major issue for the side, whose only real scoring triumphs came in their Europa League play-off defeat.

Aberdeen predicted lineup: 3-4-1-2

It goes without saying that the current crop of Reds will hope that they can emulate the spirit of their predecessors, who shocked a German giant 40 years ago in a golden era for the club, as recalled by the Daily Record:

Eintracht Frankfurt v Aberdeen predicted lineups – Will Mario Gotze play for Frankfurt?

While not the prolific player he maybe once was, Mario Gotze is an important man at Frankfurt. He’s featured in every game so far, and we suspect he’ll play in a more advanced role against a struggling Aberdeen side. Mario Gotze has a lot of European experience, and as they look to progress deeper into the competition, they’ll need to lean on that experience.

Gotze has played seven times this season, scoring once and securing two assists. Both assists coming in this competition already. While most people just remember him from his heroics with Germany, Gotze has remained a fairly consistent performer for Frankfurt since he joined. While not the “Bayern Messi” as he was once dubbed, Gotze will be looking to cause Aberdeen problems.
