India and Australia were involved in an ODI series in the second half of last month which the former went on to win 2-1. Australia did change things around in the third ODI of that series by batting the hosts out of the contest.

While defeating India in India is a difficult task for any team, a lot will depend on how quickly they adapt to the potential loss of Gill. The other issue for India is the selection of the fifth bowler, with R Ashwin, Mohammad Shami and Shardul Thakur vying for that spot.

Australia
Australia have bolstered their middle-order by bringing in Marnus Labuschagne who has scored runs by the truck-load in ODIs since his return. Where Australia would need to re-look at their batting tactics is if their number three and four, Steven Smith and Labuschagne can up the ante.
