Our top Australia vs Netherlands predictions
Contents
Australia have gotten themselves on to a bit of a roll after losing their first two matches and start a 1/14 (1.07) favourite against a team which had had to make it through the qualifiers to enter the tournament. Netherlands might have shocked South Africa but have been inconsistent overall and are 10/1 (11.0) to win this.
First Prediction: Top Australia bowler – Mitchell Starc: 3/1 (4.0)
The mistake that South Africa made against Netherlands was they tried to bounce their batsmen out. Swing and seam could be the answer to it and who better than Starc to exploit whatever little there’s in the surface early in the encounter and then towards the death overs.
Second Prediction: Warner to hit a four and a six: 4/11 (1.36)
Warner re-discovered his form with a blistering century against Pakistan and he can be expected to start off strongly against the relatively lesser experienced Dutch bowling too. A half-century at the very least beckons and it’s tough to see how that wouldn’t include a four and a six.

AUS vs NED – Can Australia impose themselves again?
With a semifinal berth on line, Australia will know they need to win all their matches against the potentially bottom four sides and then add at least two more victories to that. Netherlands might not be out of the semifinals race but they have an uphill battle to even get close.
Australia
Following defeats to India and South Africa, Australia have come back strongly by overcoming two Asian sides in conditions that could have suited their opponents.
They defeated Sri Lanka in a bit of a shaky chase but then came back with a thumping batting performance against Pakistan to defeat them by 62 runs in a Bengaluru run-fest.
Netherlands
Netherlands shocked the world by beating South Africa and while they followed that up with some fight against Sri Lanka, they fell to the 1996 champions by five wickets.
It wasn’t a docile performance by any stretch but Netherlands sure do need a better showing with the ball in unhelpful conditions.
Australia vs Netherlands h2h score
There have two previous ODIs between these two sides and Australia have won them both.
Both these matches came in World Cup cricket but they haven’t faced off since 2007.
Pitch report and weather conditions
The Delhi weather is expected to remain hot with highs of 31 degrees centigrade and humidity in the 50% region but there is one other factor – the pollution index. That’s expected to rise to unhealthy levels and that could be a cause for concern.
There have been three matches played here this World Cup and the team batting first has won two. India had chased down Afghanistan’s 272 in 35 overs in the third game.
