Pakistan vs England Second Test Betting Preview: Can Stokes’ Men Do It Again?

Pakistan vs England Second Test Betting Preview: Can Stokes’ Men Do It Again?

Just four days ago, England pulled off one of the most audacious Test wins of all time.

Batting on a lifeless road of a pitch in Pakistan, Ben Stokes rallied his men to score 921 runs at well over a run a ball. The carrot was then dangled with a tantalising declaration only 342 runs ahead, before England claimed Pakistan’s final wicket with eight minutes of light remaining on day five.

Now, with the dust barely settled, Pakistan and England are back at it for round two. The second Test is set to be played in even more trying conditions, with Multan likely to produce smog that restricts the amount of overs bowled, and another batting-friendly pitch.

Will England be able to seal their first away series win under Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum, will Pakistan bounce back to level the series, or will the conditions prevail? We preview this match and all the best bets to place ahead of the first ball this Friday.

Pakistan vs England Second Test Prediction

Looking at the latest betting odds, most major bookies are offering odds of 6/4 (2.50) for a Pakistan win, 19/10 (2.90) for an English win, and 11/5 (3.20) for a draw.

Given that Pakistan went into their shell and showed little attacking intent partway through day five in Rawalpindi, these odds are surprising. Clearly, the bookies are banking on the fact that England are committed to forcing a result, and in the process, have a good chance of suffering a loss in the second Test.

Second Test to End in Draw @ 11/5 (3.20)

For all the rhetoric around England pushing for a win, we think there’s a good chance this one could end in a draw. Multan is notorious for its poor air quality, meaning that a 10am start each day is unlikely due to morning smog, while bad light at the other end of the day is also a challenge. Add this in to the fact that Pakistan batted well in their first innings last Test and the pitch will likely be another batter-friendly track, and there’s every likelihood that Stokes will be consigned to his first draw as captain.

With healthy odds of 11/5 (3.20) for this match to end in a draw, this is a potentially lucrative bet to make.

Best Odds for the Pakistan vs England Second Test

Looking at some of the other odds ahead of the Pakistan vs England second Test, there are a couple of other great proposition bets that stand out.

England Fans Cricket

Harry Brook to Be England’s Top Run Scorer in the First Innings @ 5/1 (6.00)

Just a few days ago, Harry Brook stunned the Pakistani crowd with two incredible innings. In England’s first turn batting, he led the charge with 153 off 116. Put in to bat a second time, Brook was perhaps even more impressive, selflessly disregarding the opportunity to score a century, instead striking 87 off 65 in some high-octane cricket.

In what will be only the third Test match for the 23-year-old, there’s a strong chance he’ll continue his form and again top score for England. With odds of 5/1 (6.00), this is an exciting bet to take.

Will Jacks to Be England’s Best Bowler in the First Innings @ 11/2 (6.50)

Another young, new star in the English side is Will Jacks. Again, the bookies are offering very lucrative odds on a strong performance from the youngster, despite excellent form in the first Test. Only discovering on the morning of the first Pakistan vs England Test that he would be making his debut, Will Jacks rose to the challenge and took six wickets.

With the Multan pitch anticipated to have more turn in it than Rawalpindi, and Jacks undoubtedly being empowered to go out and hit his spots, he could well have a repeat performance in the first innings of this Test. With odds of 11/2 (6.50), this is again a great bet for those after a high return.
