Pitch report and weather conditions

The PCA Stadium in Mohali is one of the best venues in the country for batting in white-ball cricket. The average first innings score at the venue reads 265 after 26 ODIs and it shoots up to 315 for the last six games.

As per the forecast, Mohali could witness a couple of showers on Friday morning. However, the weather is expected to be mostly clear and humid during the match hours.

India vs Australia prediction

India have rested quite a few of their players for the first two games, making their line-up vulnerable. Australia had beaten a stronger Indian side by 2-1 in India earlier this year. The Aussies do seem to have better resources for this game.

Our prediction: Australia to win this match at 19/20 (1.95).

Top run-scorer

Shubman Gill has scored 1052 runs in ODIs this year at an average of 70, with four hundreds and four fifties. Back Gill to be India’s top batter at 5/2 (3.50). Mitchell Marsh has made 347 runs in the last 10 innings and is coming off a 56-ball 71 in the last innings. Bet on him to be Australia’s top batter at 7/2 (4.50).

Our prediction: Shubman Gill to be Australia’s top run-scorer at 5/2 (3.50).

Top wicket-taker

Adam Zampa has taken 20 wickets in the last nine games at a 21.75 strike rate. Bet on Zampa to be Australia’s best bowler at 3/1 (4.00). Mohammed Siraj has been magnificent in ODIs and is coming off 6/21 in the Asia Cup final. Bet on him to be India’s top bowler at 2/1 (3.00).

Our prediction: Adam Zampa to be Australia’s top wicket-taker at 3/1 (4.00).

Man of the Match

The last time Mitch Marsh faced India, he hammered 81, 66* and 47 in three games. He had a poor series against South Africa but capped it off with 71 off 56 deliveries. You can bet on him to be the player of the match at 12/1 (13.00).

Our prediction: Mitchell Marsh to be the Man of the Match at 12/1 (13.00) odds.

The series is likely to revolve around giving players some game time ahead of the World Cup. Here’s a short preview of the two teams before they clash on Friday.

India

The men in blue are coming on the back of a title-winning campaign in the Asia Cup. They defeated Sri Lanka by 10 wickets after Mohammed Siraj ran through the opponent to bowl them out for 50.

India have rested Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Virat Kohli and Kuldeep Yadav for the first two games. R Ashwin is back in the side and should feature in the eleven.

Squad: Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, Tilak Varma, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (c/wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj

Australia

Australia toured South Africa before this series, where they lost by 2-3 after winning the first two games. They were defeated by big margins, although they were missing several first-choice players.
