India vs Australia – Match Predictions
Despite their early troubles in the first ODI, India have a strong top order with a terrific lower middle order. The bowling attack looks very potent with several quality bowlers. Australia’s bowling attack is severely depleted while the batting unit remains vulnerable to collapses. Expect India to put up another strong performance to seal the series.
Prediction 1
Australia to hit most sixes
2/1 (3.00)
Prediction 2
Shami to be India's Top Bowler
13/5 (3.60)
Probable 6s
Australia have more power in their batting line-up with the likes of Mitchell Marsh, Travis Head, David Warner, Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green. Marsh alone hit five sixes in the first ODI while India struck two sixes.
Our Prediction: Australia to hit most sixes in the match at 2/1 (3.00).
Probable Wickets
Mohammed Shami was magnificent in the series opener, picking 3 for 17 with two wicket maidens. You can back Shami to be the top wicket-taker for India at 13/5 (3.60). For Australia, Mitchell Starc looked in great rhythm in the first game and picked 3 for 49. He’s a good bet to be the top bowler for Australia at 15/8 (2.87) odds.
Our Prediction: Mohammed Shami to be the highest wicket-taker for India at 13/5 (3.60).
Man of the Match
Shubman Gill has been in terrific form, scoring 600 runs in the last eight ODIs. Gill has smashed three hundreds in this period, including a double century. Gill is a top candidate to be the player of the match at 11/1 (12.00). Virat Kohli, Mohammed Shami, KL Rahul, Travis Head and Steve Smith are good betting options among others.
Our Prediction: Shubman Gill to be the Man of the Match at 11/1 (12.00) odds.
India vs Australia Preview
Trailing the series by 0-1, Australia will be desperate to level up when they take on the hosts on Sunday. Let’s take a look at both sides ahead of the second ODI.
India
Indian bowlers made a superb comeback in the first ODI to bowl out the visitors to 188 after they were 129/2 at one stage. They didn’t have a great start with the bat, losing 4 for 39 but KL Rahul played an outstanding knock of unbeaten 75 to take the side home.
Rohit Sharma will return to take charge of the side, having missed the first game due to family commitments. Ishan Kishan will make way for the captain. Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur form the pace attack alongside Hardik Pandya while Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav handle spin department.
Squad: Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj
Australia
Australia were in a strong position on the back of Mitchell Marsh’s 81 before they suffered a massive collapse. Mitchell Starc was breathing fire and if they had a couple of more specialist seamers, they could’ve won the match.
Australia bat deep with plenty of all-rounders in the side. But having to rely on Cameron Green, Marcus Stoinis and Glenn Maxwell for 20 overs weakens the bowling attack. David Warner and Alex Carey weren’t fit for the first game but could return on Sunday.
Squad: David Warner, Travis Head, Steven Smith (c), Mitchell Marsh, Alex Carey (wk), Glenn Maxwell, Cameron Green, Marcus Stoinis, Sean Abbott, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa
