Our top England vs Bangladesh predictions
Contents
In what will be a crucial game for England after their opening loss they will start favourites to put it across Bangladesh in this match but the dangerous Asian side will have some confidence coming into this one.
First Prediction: Top England batsman – Joe Root: 5/1 (6.0)
Joe Root has already hit a century against Bangladesh in ODI cricket and averages a whopping 91.5 (from a relatively small sample size of three matches). He started off well by top-scoring for England in their opener and we expect him to do the same again.
Second Prediction: Jonny Bairstow to hit a four & a six: 8/15 (1.53)
Bairstow got off to a start against New Zealand but failed to convert it. This time around, we expect him to get going and on a pitch where the ball should come on to the bat, can expect to hit at least a four and six.
England’s batting against New Zealand was out of character – they attacked 17% of balls they faced, compared to NZ’s 28%
Joe Root says we won’t see “guys getting caught mid-off or long-off check-driving” from now on: “They’ll be hitting it 20 rows back”https://t.co/OYC4EF1hrl

ENG vs BANG – Can England get going after false start?
England will hope to turn things around after their opening match defeat but they will be up against a fairly confident team in Bangladesh who won their opener at this very ground.
England
England would have had a hard, long look at what went wrong for them in their loss to New Zealand. It wasn’t so much that defeat that would have bothered them but the cluelessness of their bowlers while defending what might have been a slightly sub-par score.
They will need to improve on both fronts.
Bangladesh
Bangladesh will take a lot of confidence from the one-sided nature of their victory over Afghanistan in their opener but will know England is a different kettle of fish.
Still, if Bangladesh can get lucky with the toss and win some of the crucial moments, they might give themselves a chance here under the leadership of Shakib al Hasan who had led from the front last game.
England vs Bangladesh h2h score
Overall, England have beaten Bangladesh in 19 of the 24 matches they have played them in. Bangladesh’s most famous win over England came at the 2015 World Cup which helped them qualify for the quarterfinals of that tournament.
Earlier this year the two teams were involved in a three-match series which England won 2-1 but it was Bangladesh’s win over them in the third game that proved to be the surprise result.
Pitch report and weather conditions
The pitch in the last game looked reasonably batting-friendly but Afghanistan collapsed miserably after having made a good start against Bangladesh. Still, given that this is a day game, teams winning the toss will want to field first.
Interestingly, rain is forecasted for this game so we might have a disrupted game if that comes to fruition.
