Former English international cricket player Andrew Flintoff has been airlifted to hospital this Tuesday, after being injured on the set of Top Gear.
It is understood that Flintoff was involved in a high-speed crash at the Dunsfold Park Aerodrome in Surrey, England. The accident occurred while filming for an episode of the popular British TV show Top Gear, which has been a regular on the BBC since 2002.

A spokesperson for the BBC has stated that Flintoff’s injuries are “not life-threatening”.
The spokesperson went on to explain that, “Freddie was injured in an accident at the Top Gear test track this morning – with crew medics attending the scene immediately. He has been taken to hospital for further treatment and we will confirm more details in due course.”
However, little detail is known about the accident. Right now we known that it occurred on the usual filming location, involved a motor vehicle, and was serious enough for Flintoff to be airlifted to hospital, but not serious enough to be deemed life threatening.
A Trend Appearing with Flintoff’s Top Gear Involvement
This is not the first time that Flintoff has been involved in a crash since becoming involved with Top Gear.
In 2019, soon after joining the show, Flintoff lost control of a motorised trike at high-speed and crashed into a market stall. Months later, he crashed during a drag race at Elvington Airfield in Yorkshire, without sustaining any injuries.
Former Top Gear host Richard Hammond was not as lucky, however, when he crashed at Elvington Airfield in 2006. The incident left Hammond in a coma, with permanent brain damage as a result.
Flintoff’s Glory Days as an English Cricketer
While Andrew Flintoff has certainly led a successful career post-cricket, there’s no doubt that he glory days can still be found within the English jersey.
Debuting in 1998, Flintoff goes down in history as one of the best all-rounders to ever represent England. Not only did he captain his side, but he also scored 3845 Test runs taking 226 wickets across 79 matches. Add to this his 3394 ODI runs with 169 wickets from 141 matches at an economy of 4.39, and Flintoff was an all-time great of the English team.
He’ll be remembered for his wily medium pace that had a knack for eking out wickets during tough patches of Test matches, as well as his resilient batting and power that could send a ball flying over the ropes with the flick of a wrist.
