Whilst Arsenal are also looking to sign new players to boost their Premier League title hopes for next season, retaining the services and handing out long-term contracts to their key players is also of great importance to the club. Bukayo Saka for example signed a new contract until 2027 last month, and another player is set to do the same.
As reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal central defender William Saliba has signed a new contract with the club. This has been an ongoing talking point amongst Gunners supporters and they will be relieved to hear this news that he has penned his long-term future to the football club.

The 22-year-old is currently on his summer holiday, like all players at this time of year, and it is merely just a case of waiting for him to return to London so that this deal can be officially signed and completed. His new contract will run until the end of the 2026-27 season, just like Saka, and there is also an option to extend this by a further 12-months.
Final talks between the parties involved took place last weekend and the resolution to that is that a new contract for Salibu. As mentioned, Arsenal are also looking to add new faces to their roster as they look to really challenge Manchester City for the league title. Declan Rice is one of those, but their initial £80million was rejected by West Ham United.
It is a case of counting down the days until the 2023-24 Premier League season, and yesterday all 20 clubs received their fixtures to see who will face who. Arsenal will open up their campaign with a televised home clash with Nottingham Forest, and here you can see all of the key fixture dates for Arsenal over the coming months.
It hasn’t been an easy transition for Salibu in making a name for himself at Arsenal. After signing in 2019, he would only make his debut for the club in 2022. Mikel Arteta spotted something in the player and he immediately became a key part of the defence. His first three years for the club were spent on loan at Saint-Étienne, Nice and Marseille.
It was his spells in his native France that alerted Arteta to his qualities and he really has not looked back since coming into the team. He made 27 Premier League appearances last season, and many indicate that his injury towards the back end of the campaign as being one major reason that Arsenal fell away in the title race.
Arsenal: What now for William Saliba?
As mentioned, the player is currently enjoying a holiday as he rests up before returning to pre-season training in the next few weeks. In July, Arsenal will be travelling over to the Unites States of America for a pre-season tour, during which they’ll face Manchester United, Barcelona and an MLS All-Stars XI. They will also host the annual Emirates Cup at Emirates Stadium.
In terms of the contract, there is not believed to be any issue in signing this extension and Salibu committing his long-term future to the football club. He has only played one full season of first-team football with Arsenal, and his absence at the end of last season proved how crucial he is to the team defensively.
