Melbourne Storm vs Canberra Raiders – Match Predictions
Contents
There’s plenty on the line at AAMI Park in Melbourne this weekend, in what should be a tight encounter between two of the competition’s top sides. Here are our predictions for this Storm vs Raiders match:
Melbourne Storm to Lead Half Time/Full Time
Having lost three of their last five matches, albeit two of those to the Penrith Panthers, expect a focused Melbourne side to come out on Sunday afternoon in front of a home crowd. Performing at the pointy end of the season is what the Storm do best, and with only three games remaining in the regular season after this round, and a congested ladder, this is a big match for Melbourne.
The Storm don’t often lose crunch matches like this, and there’s every chance they’ll come out firing fromm the get go here.
Melbourne Storm to Win by 1-12
Despite the fact that Melbourne are heavy favourites, and rightfully so, the reality is this will be a hard fought match. Canberra won’t be wanting to lose their third in four matches, and will throw everything they have at the Storm.
Five of the Raider’s past six matches have been 1-12, so even if they do lose, don’t expect a blow out—they got that out of their systems against the Knights in Round 22.
Melbourne Storm vs Canberra Raiders preview
Heading into this match, here’s a look at how both teams’ seasons have gone so far in the NRL 2023:
Melbourne Storm
It hasn’t quite been a vintage Melbourne Storm year, but lo and behold, the team is still in contention for making the top four come post-season time. With a record of 12-8 for the season so far, Melbourne sit fifth, currently deprived of a top four spot solely on points differential.
Last week, the Storm were given a lesson in high-takes footy by the Panthers, losing 26-6.
Canberra Raiders
Few were picking the Raiders to be in contention this late in the season, and yet the Green Machine has had a break out year in 2023. After winning five straight games across April and May, the Raiders now sit in fifth place, also holding a 12-8 record and tied with the Storm and Sharks on 30 points.
Last week, Canberra scraped home 22-18 over bottom placed West Tigers.
Melbourne Storm vs Canberra Raiders head to head
This will be the first meeting this year between these two sides, with the Melbourne Storm owning the overall head to head by 36 to 16.
