Gold Coast Titans vs Penrith Panthers – Match Predictions
Contents
Who will walk away with their head held high in Sydney on Saturday afternoon? Here are our top predictions ahead of the Titans vs Panthers this Saturday:
Total Match Points Under 46.5
The Panthers will win this one, that’s not really up for debate. What is up for debate, however, is how much they’ll win by. The bookies are picking this to be a bit of a hiding, but we say things could be a little tighter than this clash appears on paper.
While Penrith have won their last seven in a row, they’ve struggled to put away teams that are ranked well below them. In fact, in their last three matches, no more than 36 points have been scored by both sides total. Expect the Panthers to methodically deal to the Titans, but without any fireworks as they look to bag another two points drama-free.
Successful Drop Goal
Nathan Cleary loves his field goals, with the flyhalf nailing several memorable ones already this season. While we don’t think a field goal will be necessary to win this one, it wouldn’t at all be a surprise if Cleary picks one up at some stage.
Firstly, the Panthers will be focused on getting the win, and will be happy to accrue points every time they’re down in the Titan’s half–whether or not those are tries, or goals. Secondly, in the back of Cleary’s mind, there will surely be part of him that’s wanting to bag a few more droppies ahead of the playoffs to get his eye in.
Gold Coast Titans vs Penrith Panthers preview
Heading into this match, here’s a look at how both teams’ seasons have gone so far in the NRL 2023:
Gold Coast Titans
The Titans season is officially dead, with the Gold Coast team sitting six points outside of the top eight with only three matches remaining. Having won eight and lost 13, it’s not been the worst season for the Gold Coast Titans, but they haven’t lit the competition on fire either. Coming into this match, they’ve lost their past two games against the Sharks (36-6) and Warriors (28-18).
Penrith Panthers
Another clinical year from the Panthers sees them sitting on top of the NRL ladder with three rounds to go. The Minor Premiership is wrapped up this year, however, as the Broncos are breathing down their necks, tied with the Penrith side on 38 points. With only five losses in 2023, the Panthers are currently on a seven game winning streak, having defeated the Sea Eagles and Storm most recently.
Gold Coast Titans vs Penrith Panthers head to head
These two sides have played 23 times, with the Panthers winning 16 and the Gold Coast claiming seven wins.
