South Korea vs Peru Lineups and Team News
South Korea
Since the 2022 World Cup South Korea haven’t played any official matches. In fact, they don’t have any official games scheduled throughout the entire 2023. Back in March, the Koreans drew 2-2 vs Colombia and lost 1-2 vs Uruguay in 2 hotly contested friendly clashes. Those were the first 2 games in charge for the new head coach Jurgen Klinsmann.
Klinsmann is calling mainly the experienced core of the team for these friendlies and the Koreans will have almost all of their main players involved. There are some notable absentees though. Key centre-backs Min-jae Kim (Napoli) and Yooung-gwon Kim (Ulsan) are given a rest and won’t feature.
Peru
Peru haven’t played an official match in over 12 months now as they failed to qualify for last autumn’s World Cup. Since then 4 friendlies were played with Peru failing to score in 3 of those but beating minions El Salvador 4–1.
Peru continue to have no official matches to prepare for so they opted to call 11 players from the local Peruvian league for this coming long trip to Korea. At the same time, the experienced warriors Advincula (110 caps), Tapia (72 caps), Carrillo (92 caps) and Ruidiaz (53 caps) were left out. The last 2 are key strikers and will be missed, Tapai has been the main engine in midfield for the past 5 years and will also be missed. Advincula is hard to replace on the right flank too.
