Wimbledon Predictions 2022 Following Draw Announcement

Everything is now set in stone for the 2022 Wimbledon Championships. The seeds have been known for a few days now. And yesterday, we witnessed the reveal of the men’s and women’s draws. Of course, the draw is one of the most important parts of the tournament. Should a player get a rough draw, their chances of winning the event sadly decrease. But a good draw can lead to some truly amazing prospects.

Wimbledon 2022 predictions

I say this because a ‘bad draw’ leads to tougher opening rounds. This can increase a player’s time on the court, which tires them out and prevents them from performing well deeper in the tournament. Then again, the old saying is that to win the top events, you have to beat the top players. And based on the draw which was announced yesterday, I believe that I’ve narrowed down the most likely winner.

I’ve also looked at other guys who could enjoy a deep draw run at Wimbledon 2022. It’s all discussed below, so let’s get started!

Predictions for Wimbledon 2022

Wimbledon might have been stripped of its points this year, but it’s still a registered Grand Slam. So of course, the competitors will all be desperate to claim the title. However, some guys have a better chance of achieving this than others. And that’s why I’ve put together a range of Wimbledon 2022 predictions right here.

Outright Winner

It’s no great secret that the favourite to win Wimbledon this year is Novak Djokovic. He has won the championships on his previous three attempts, and I truly believe he will do it again this year. Djokovic shouldn’t really be challenged until the quarter-final stage, where he could potentially take on Carlos Alcaraz. And of course, his grass-court game is magnificent too.

Deep Draw Prospects

There are a few guys who I believe could do very deep in the tournament this year. Some of them might not be on your radar either. So for me, these guys include Auger-Aliassime, Marin Cilic, Shapovalov, Bautista-Agut, and Taylor Fritz. Most of these players have made the quarter-finals or better in the past, and they’ve all been in great form recently. Of course, these are all players who might not be tipped to win the tournament!

Potential Dark Horses

Moving the attention to guys who could well win the tournament now, again, I believe there are several prospects. The first of these guys is Carlos Alcaraz. He isn’t listed inside the top three favourites for Wimbledon 2022, and that’s because his grass-court game is still a work in progress. But he can obviously hit a huge ball, and he is dangerous for all of the tournament favourites. And the second guy I want to mention here is Hubert Hurkacz.

As you may recall, he beat Roger Federer last year before losing to Berrettini in the semi-finals. With an enormous serve and a relatively flat forehand, he could do some damage again this year. His section of the draw is relatively decent too, so he will breeze through to the second week, in my opinion.
