US Open 2022 Legal Streaming Options

The 2022 US Open is due to kick off on August 29th. That’s in just three days! And if you want to watch the tournament, as thousands of tennis fans around the world do, you may want to check out what the best streaming options are. As you’ve no doubt guessed from the title, I will be covering the legal streaming options for the 2022 US Open. I’ve chosen to provide details on the main streaming options for those in the UK, USA, Australia, and Canada. And I have separated the details for each as the streaming options do vary between these locations.

US Open 2022 Streaming

So if you are based in one of the four nations mentioned here, you are in luck. You are about to discover all of the best (and legal) streaming options for the US Open 2022. Ready to get into it? Let me get things started with the host nation itself – the USA.

2022 US Open Streaming Options – USA

In the USA, should you wish to watch the US Open, you will need a subscription to ESPN. These guys have exclusive broadcasting rights in the states. So really, this gives you just one option if you are to watch the tournament. But here’s the good news – ESPN is supported by many different TV packages. You can even subscribe to ESPN on an individual basis too. This is the cheaper option if your only interest is to watch the 2022 US Open. And all you have to do is visit ESPN to start a monthly subscription, which you can cancel whenever you like.

Bear in mind that it’s not just one channel involved here. You will also gain access to ESPN 2, ESPN 3, and ESPN +. Thanks to these three channels being included in just one bundle, you can watch all of the matches throughout the entire two-week event. This includes the ability to flick between stadium courts and courts that are located around the grounds.

Of course, you can access your account through a smart TV, laptop/desktop, and via your mobile phone if you download the ESPN app. This would provide access to US Open streaming from wherever you might be. And finally, to subscribe to ESPN on an individual basis, the cost is just $9.99 per month. This is very reasonable compared with the costs to stream in other nations.

Australia – US Open Streaming Options

For Australian-based tennis fans, you have the best deal out of all of the nations I’ve discussed here. That’s because Australia is the only country where there is a free TV channel that is covering the US Open. The channel that is covering the games for free is channel 9. This is included in most basic TV services, no matter where you are based in Australia. However, there is a catch – you won’t be able to watch all of the games and you cannot choose the matches. This obviously hinders the viewing service to a certain degree, which is where paid subscriptions enter the picture.

In Australia, there is just one paid subscription service where you can gain access to the 2022 US Open. That service is Stan Sport, which now has exclusive broadcasting rights in Australia. Note that this is a brand new change in the Australian market. So if you are trying to watch through services such as FOX or ESPN, which previously covered the tournament, you won’t be able to. As for the cost of a Stan Sports subscription, the cost comes out to just $20 per month. And you can even give them a try with a 30-day free trial from what I’ve seen.

Streaming Options for US Open 2022 in the UK

In the United Kingdom, it is all about Amazon Prime. These guys have enjoyed exclusive broadcasting rights for several years already in the United Kingdom. And the great thing about Amazon Prime is that it’s not a standalone subscription for sports. As long as you’ve got a Prime subscription anyway, which many people do, you’ll be able to watch the 2022 US Open without having to pay for any add-ons. At the moment, Amazon Prime costs £8.99, which is very reasonable. And by maintaining this membership, you can watch any match that you like at the tournament.

By logging into your account and heading to Prime Video, you can pick and choose the court whenever you like. This can be done on desktop, mobile, through a smart TV, and through Amazon’s very own Firestick. I’ve actually used this service to watch many tennis matches throughout the year. And I must say, the quality of the video stream is excellent. It has greatly improved since Amazon first started to cover the WTA and ATP Tours several years ago.

Finally, I should also mention that there is an app that you can download to watch the US Open with Amazon Prime. By downloading this app, you will get a better streaming experience than you would get through the mobile site. So that is the route that I recommend if you want to watch the tournament on the move.

Canada – Live Stream Services for 2022 US Open

If you are based in Canada, you actually have a couple of options when it comes to streaming the action. Unlike your main neighbour, the USA, here you can choose between RSN or TSN. As I’m sure you are aware, these are major sports channels in Canada. And much like the ESPN streaming services for the USA, you can subscribe to these on an individual basis. One important thing to point out here, however, is that each service is supplied in just one language.

So if you want to watch the action with English commentary, you will want to go for the TSN subscription. But if you want to watch with French commentary, you can subscribe to RSN. Assuming you prefer English, you can pick up a TSN subscription for $19.99. This is billed on a monthly basis, but you can always cancel the service after the 2022 US Open finishes. That’s entirely your choice.
