Two of America’s top talents are facing off in round three of the 2024 Italian Open – Fritz and Korda. Fritz is expected to win, but will this be the case? Let me share my tennis predictions today ahead of this mouthwatering clash.
Our favourite Taylor Fritz vs Sebastian Korda predictions
Contents
Fritz comes into this match after reaching the semis in Madrid and having won the only previous meeting with Korda. Of course, he’s playing much better than the 27th-ranked Korda in recent times, but Korda’s firepower makes him a dangerous opponent for anyone.
With that in mind, here are two markets to consider for this All-American match in Rome:
Fritz to win @ 11/20 (1.55)
At world #13, Fritz is the higher-ranked player here, and he’s in finer form than Korda – no doubt about it. He came to Rome after reaching the semis of the Madrid Open, all thanks to his mighty serve and booming baseline game. These factors will see him over the line in this match, in my opinion.
Fritz -2.5 games handicap @ 10/11 (1.91)
Based on his current form and previous win over Korda on the clay of Monte Carlo, I feel this market also has great value. I also say this because Fritz won 2-0 against Fognini in the previous round, while Korda fought incredibly hard to beat an unseeded Italian in round two.
Taylor Fritz vs Sebastian Korda odds
Fritz has a 64.50% chance of coming through this match compared with just a 43.50% probability for Korda, as per the most recent odds.
Battle of the Americans coming up at 2024 Italian Open
Not only is this an All-American battle, but it’s also a battle of two seeded guys at the Italian Open. Let me give further context to the upcoming bout now.
Taylor Fritz preview
For one reason or another, Taylor Fritz seems to keep finding some big results on the red dust. He’s not really suited to clay, but after a semi-final appearance in Madrid and a solid start in Rome, I wouldn’t bet against him to make another deep run.
Sebastian Korda preview
On his day, I truly think Korda can challenge some of the best in the world. But much like Fritz, his style isn’t best suited to clay, and I feel his movement isn’t quite as effective compared with Fritz’s on this surface. Furthermore, while he won his opening match here, he looked to be struggling from the back of the court, which Fritz will expose.
Fritz vs Korda head to head
The only prior meeting for these two was in Monte Carlo back in 2022. Fritz came through that one in two tight sets, but he has much improved since then in my opinion, while Korda is still finding his feet after an injury-plagued run. This makes the H2H 1-0 in favour of Fritz.
